So Who Saw WALL-E This Weekend?
I'm sure our resident filmes-type person Heather will have a full, real review of the movie soon, but I don't come to review it. Or even discuss the Deep Messages and Whether Pixar Made a G-Rated Version of Idiocracy. I come to simply say HOW FREAKING ADORABLE IS THAT LITTLE ROBOT, PEOPLE?
Holy crap, he makes the Care Bears look like fucking trolls.
Anyway, we all thoroughly enjoyed this one in our house, from the thirtysomethings on down to the twosomething. Our toddler loved the Buster-Keaton-like physical antics of the robots, and the lack of a lot of dialog made the movie easy for him to understand (and oh, honestly it was refreshing to watch a CG movie that ISN'T all about the celebrity cast and "how are we going to get Chris Rock's voice into this one?"). He sat quietly transfixed for the entire thing, an accomplishment not even Horton Hears a Who could give us.
Us grownup types appreciated the storyline and broader messages, and also...wow, a kid's movie that actually warns kids against mindless marketing and consumerism instead of just showcasing all the kickass action figures they can buy later?
We'd actually just rented the abominable Bee Movie the night before, which made me want to punch everybody involved and didn't hold our kid's interest for more than 15 minutes. What Pixar does is just...so beyond everybody else it's insane. The film easily looks better and "more real" than ANY of CGI sci-fi film I've seen in recent years, and OH MY GOD HOW FREAKING ADORABLE IS THAT LITTLE ROBOT, PEOPLE?

Ridiculously adorable, so much that I teared up once or twice and my four year old sat, literally, on the edge of his seat for some scenes saying "Oh" a bunch of times.
OMG, how cute is he?

He really reminds me of #5 from the Short Circuit movies in the 80s. (...the second of which totally makes me cry. "Johnny Five is Alive" *sob*) Anyway. My little one isn't old enough yet, but you can bet that will be Tivo'd on my PayPerView ASAP!

So cute, so cute, so so so cute.
Though, to the anti-consumerism message, I saw a bunch of people on the morning news this weekend talking about how many Wall-E figures, sheets, etc. were on store shelves NOW. It was pretty funny. Ah, American hypocrisy is the best hypocrisy in the world.
Wall-E is ADORABLE!!!!!

It's the first animated movie that my animation/comic/cartoon-obsessed brother has wanted to see in a long, long time. That says something to me.

Stacie, I said the same thing about #5 and no one agreed with me! I'm glad to hear someone else noticed a resemblence.

I saw it this weekend and thought it was the cutest thing since one of the Norwegian lion cubs decided that if mom was giving him/her a bath, then mom should get a bath too and started licking her face with gusto. (At the time, the cub was much smaller than mom's head.)
We saw it for a friend's birthday party, because Pixar is multi-generational, yo, and the birthday girl also thinks that WALL-E is totally Johnny 5's little brother.
I actually like EVA best, because of her eyes when she giggled.

When someone asked me about Wall-E - I also said "you mean Short Circuit the animated version". Number 5 is adorable - just like Wall-E appears to be adorable. Amalah - you should really rent the Short Circuits. I also have been known to tear up at "Johnny 5 is alive", Jean!

I saw it with a group of 20/30 somethings and we all LOVED it!! (also totally loved the short before the movie, almost peed my pants). I couldn't believe how much personality Pixar could put in emotionaless robots! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE

My husband and I went to see this Sunday, and it was absolutely wonderful. The part where he rocked himself to sleep made me want to wrap him up and take him home. It was fabulous.

I also thought of Johnny 5 when I saw the previews and the movie, so you guys aren't the only ones! I did a double-header and while I enjoyed the movie and thought it was really well done (kudos to Pixar), I REALLY liked Kung Fu Panda.

My husband and I (who rarely go to movies; the last one we saw was Pan's Labyrinth, so that should tell ya) saw Indiana Jones yesterday. Sigh. I tried to get him to see Wall-E with me instead, but HE wanted to see the Incredible Hulk, and Indy was our compromise. Poor Pepaw... Have never seen such slo-mo action in my life. And why the hell didn't somebody do something about Karen Allen's HAIR??!??!
Anyhow... now I really really want to go see Wall-E.

People CLAPPED at the end of this movie. Now, maybe it's just a side effect of living in the midwest that I have not adjusted to in my three years here, but PEOPLE CLAPPED! And you know what, it was deserved.
Gotta go now, WALL-E action figures are on sale at Target.

Oh. So. So. Adorable.
Almost as adorable, in my humble opinion, as my two and a half year old exlamation that "THEY SAVED THE BABIES!"
It was her first movie in the theater.
She ate the shit out of a bucket of popcorn. Ever so often I would catch her admiring the shine of her 'butter flavored' hands going 'Ooooooooh I Love Butter.'
In her best whisper voice.

I can't wait to see this!!!! When I first saw a preview back at Christmas-ish I knew I wanted to see it. I may even take my almost-3-year-old twin nephews so I won't look so wierd going on my own (37 and child-less...)
