Alex Rodriguez Wife Files For Divorce, is Madonna to Blame?

Madonna divorce watch continues.   Cynthia Rodriguez officially filed for divorce yesterday from Alex Rodriguez citing infidelity and emotional abuse.  It does not say whether or not the affair was with Madonna.

In the divorce petition, Cynthia's attorneys wrote, "Alex has emotionally abandoned his wife and children, and has left her with no choice but to divorce him." The petition goes on to state that the marriage is "irretrievably broken because of the husband’s extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct."

In the filing, Cynthia asks to be named primary residential parent with shared custody of their two children Natasha, 3, and Ella, 3 months. She wants to keep the family's six-bedroom, $12 million home in Coral Gables. She is also seeking alimony, life and health insurance, private school tuition, and equitable distribution of assets. She is planning to argue that the antenuptial agreement (it's like a pre-nup but signed after the wedding) is not valid.  It does not explain why.

"Cynthia is tremendously traumatized and devastated," Houston lawyer Earle Lilly said.   Lilly added that infidelity is a "major cause" for the divorce, but not because of any one allegation. Rather, he says, there were a series of dalliances and "Madonna was the last straw."  And he says Alex's relationship with Madonna was "an affair of the heart" – not "sexual infidelity."  "Madonna's name is not even mentioned in the papers," says Lilly. "We don't want the public to think this is an aggressive action against Madonna."

Madonna adamantly denies any affair with Alex.  She issued a statement saying, "My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce. I know Alex Rodriguez through Guy Oseary, who manages both of us. I brought my kids to a Yankee game. I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study.”

A very reliable source, Alex's former trainer, says Alex is so obsessed with Madonna that "he'll only listen to [her] music" while driving, and goes into a trance if one of her videos comes on at the gym.  Alex, God bless him, is lost.  I think he got pulled in by the dark side, if you can say that nicely. He's totally brainwashed."  Except that, he hasn't seem him since the spring.  So what does he know?

To further complicate matters, and add another celebrity to the mix, there has been rumors that Cynthia is involved with Lenny Kravitz.  Both Lenny and Cynthia deny this.

What do you all think?  Is this a case of when there is smoke there is fire?  Is is the press making this all up?

I don't think it's true, but I do think that this douche has cheated on his wife so many times that she's using Madge as a representation of his douchiness. I think she BELIEVES they are having an affair. I feel sorry for her, with an infant and young daughter in the mix.

I can't stand him. He just seems so slimy from all the stories that fly around the ny media. Further cementing that fact was when a clip from that song,"This is why I'm hot" (I don't know if that's what it's named or not...) played as he walked up to bat on Sunday night.

I can't believe that one of Madonna's videos came on at his gym. That has to be a total fabrication.
