Okay, I wasn't going to write about "The Hills'" persona Heidi Montag, because she gets far too much coverage for a bitch who can't sing and attempts to control all of her friends' and family's relationships in the most alienating fashion.  Aren't there a million bleach-blond, underfed, spoiled girls with crazy senses of entitlement graduating from high school every year in North America?

Friday Eye Candy: Sparkly Vegetarian Vampire Edition

I know. I have amply communicated my adoration for vampire hotties in this space. But! That was just Angel and Spike! Now there's Edward.

(Just so as you all know, I have it on good authority that there is nothing creepy about lusting after a teenage vampire. He is, after all, nearly 100 years old. It's only his body that is 17. So. Totally above board.)

Random Blogger arrested after posting Guns N' Roses songs

A blogger no one had ever heard of before this was arrested for streaming unreleased Guns N' Roses songs.  The songs are from their new unreleased album "Chinese Democracy."  His bail was set at $10,000.

Look, I'm not pro music stealing or anything, but $10,000?  I think our priorities are a little out of a whack when a music streaming blogger is stuck in jail and murderers and rapists are released on the own recognizance.  Got to love the federal sentencing guidelines.  (I actually ranted a little bit about this on the comments to yesterday's post.)  The U.S. Attorney actually asked for $50,000, his attorney asked for $5,000, he got $10,000.

Hard Knocks: I Didn't Want to Love You, But I Do

I am a longtime lover of football, I am a huge fan of HBO programming and I am a reluctant reality television addict, so why didn't I watch the last two seasons of HBO's Hard Knocks, a show that follows an NFL team through training camp?

Because they sucked.

I watched that first season with the Ravens and it was pretty good. They were just coming off of a Super Bowl win and things were interesting. This was before the NFL Network existed and it was hard to know exactly what went on in training camp.

(Yes, I watch the NFL Network. You wanna make something of it, punk?)

Two years ago they switched to The Dallas Cowboys. It turned out that Jerry Jones was kind of a douche. Then the next year Dallas picked up Terrell Owens and the douchebaggery doubled.

I think I sat through one episode last year before giving up on it completely.

You know what Suge? I have never liked you. You have always been a thug and a criminal, even though your label put out some of the best rap of the 90s. But this news makes me so livid I can't even call you by your nickname anymore, because that would mean I had even an ounce of respect for you. You are now either Marion "Douchebag" Knight, or Sir Douchebag. Take your pick.

Twilight Stars to Present at VMAs; Girl Shrieks Cause Permanent Hearing Damage Across Country

Apparently when Robert Pattinson made his appearance at ComicCon a horde of girls went nuts and temporarily forgot that Edward is a character and Pattinson is an actual person. Who is not Edward. Thus, Pattinson got the Tom Jones treatment and All the Shrieking may have rendered him momentarily impotent, due to fear, and deaf.

Status Update: Aaron Sorkin is...Writing The Facebook Movie?

Aaron Sorkin, the genius behind "A Few Good Men" and my favorite show of the last ten years, "The West Wing," hates bloggers. Hates them. Us. Me. Aaron Sorkin hates me. We don't know why, or when this happened. But be assured, our dear Aaron?  Not a gigantic fan of the internet.  He's made it abundantly clear on both "The West Wing" and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip." Nothing but spews of vitrol for the internet and all the terrible, crazy people who use it.

So! Imagine my surprise when I came across this little item.

MacKenzie Phillips Arrested For Drug Possesion

I am a child of the 80's, and a fan of all of the 80's sitcoms, including One Day at a Time.  And while everybody loved the Valerie Bertinelli character, I much preferred the character played by MacKenzie Phillips, the less than perfect daughter Julie.  And when she left the show, amid rumors of discord and drug abuse, I was devastated.

Although she had publicly declared she had kicked her cocaine habit, and had started to resurrect her career by appearing on the Disney channel show So Weird, it looks like she is off the wagon.  She was arrested for suspicion of possession of cocaine and heroin by Los Angeles airport police after the narcotics were discovered during a screening by federal security staff. 

How many drugs are you taking to bring drugs to an airport?  Where you know yourself and your luggage is going to get screened?

So crazy story: Monday night I am walking through the Denver Performing Arts Complex and right in front of me, just standing there chatting with the common people and hamming it up with the rest of his band mates is Pete Wentz. That's when the lady next to me says, "Well I just saw Ashley inside and she looks like she's about to drop." Mind you this sighting was minutes after being serenaded by the Goo Goo Dolls while my boss enjoyed a duet by James Taylor and Tony Bennett and John Legend played the piano.

We have the finale of Shear Genius, which will be way less fun without Daniel the Dallas Diva, and we have a "wacky materials" challenge on Project Runway, and let me tell you, I don't care if they're making evening gowns out of pieces of the space station, NOTHING will be more hilarious than the drag queen challenge last week. Those bitches were FIERCE. And speaking of fierce, Bad Mommy herself, Queen Laura Bennett is tonight's guest judge! I cannot wait for her to rip the designers new ones, man. Cannot wait.
