Britney Spears Tapped to Kick Off the VMA's

That is it. MTV is dead to me.

I spent 10 years watching MTV. 1981 - 1991. Seriously, I went to school came home and watched MTV. (Well, I suppose to be realistic there was some time spent making my hair big in the middle and going to parties at the end, but you get my point.) But after the next 17 years of not playing music videos hardly at all and now this - they have chosen Britney Spears to open the 25th Annual Video Music Awards.

I have some questions for you MTV:

1) Why would you egg her on like that? Isn't she annoying enough now?

2) Um, do you even show videos anymore? Why do you get to still host the VMA's?

3) Can we please have a M3 so we can see videos? Unlike all your "North Palm Wrestling" and "Pimp My Ride" watchers, I actually enjoyed the music aspect to your network.

4) Is "North Palm Wresting" about what I think it is about?

5) Seriously? BRITNEY SPEARS? Isn't there somebody more musically valid that you could have chosen?

And now my question for the rest of you, has MTV lost its mind or am I just old and crotchety?

Interesting side note: TypePad's spell check accepts Britney as an acceptably spelled word. *sigh* I hate people.
