Britney's New Song "Womanizer"

Britney

The first track off Britney Spears' album "Circus" has made its way to the internets in its entirety. A snippet was originally leaked and the release was pushed back to December 27th, Spears' birthday. For most pop singers, follow up tracks have to be as good or exceed sales of the previous album for it to be hailed as a success; after Britney's much-publicized breakdown, I think her album will be deemed a success if she can perform the track live while looking good and not forgetting her dance routine.

Listen to the song after the jump.

The chorus is catchy and the song has style. I'm a sometime-fan of the layered vocal technique, only when it's used to emphasize the voice, not when it's manipulated as a way to make the voice sound more ominous or robotic. It seems a bit much during the verses.

The song captures, and capitalizes on, the resurgence of synth-pop, so in this respect it's good. Lyrically it's simple but it flows - it's a catchy dance club beat and no less complicated than anything Rihanna has on the charts right now. I hope it's viewed fairly or without the obligation of praise considering the artist, but that's unlikely. I'm anxious to hear the rest of the album that had Justin Timberlake praising its merit.

No thanks, on the listening. I value my ears.

Also, could she even BE any more Photoshopped in that pic?

Sourire11

Seriously with the over photoshopping.

Amber

Okay, so the grinding noise at the beginning LITERALLY hurt my teeth. Wow.

Liana

Kinda fun at the beginning but then it gets boring because the repetition is broken up by SO little.

So....I give it an "eh" which just a shade better than "meh."

Dana

Re: the photo - DUDE. I WISH I could Photoshop a bit off my waist before I leave the house.

It is repetitious which is why I don't think it will be more than a club spin.

michele

def agree on the club song. i don't think it is so bad. if it was a bit more broken up then probably it would top the pop charts. (it may still?)

deirdre

Holy cow -- that photo needs to be sent to the Photoshop Distasters website -- check out Brit's skinny left hand, then check out her club right hand.

deirdre

that would be skinny right hand and chubby left hand

deirdre

well upon closer reflection it just might be bad posing and are in fact her natural, and natural, hands.

Snarky Amber

You know, I like it. I mean, it's not groundbreaking or even "good" music, per se, but I immediately want to dance when I hear it, which is a good quality for a song in Britney's genre to possess. I think it's possibly the best thing she's put out since "Toxic". Didn't she have a large hand in writing the music on this new album? I'd say girl knows her some good club music.

Actually, I think the place the photoshopping is most obvious is her chin/neck! Where did her double chin go??

kelly

britneys birthday is december 2..

TIGG

I dnt care too much 4her anymore..but her bday is on the 2nd NOT the 27th.. Ive seen TOO MANY articles tht have been giving wrong info ((EX::Michael Phelps drowning trying to save a dog during the olympics)) && its needs to stop.. If the facts arent 100%certain then shit doesnt need to be posted.. WORD OF ADIVCE:: CHECK YA FACTS!!! THEN CHECK EM AGAIN

Angeline

That song was so weak! It's so over-processed. It feels like a step back for her. The lyrics suck. The vocals don't even sound like her and they still suck. It sounds like a first cut version. She needs to go back into the studios, hire better writers and producers, then redo this crap. I bet if she ripped farts over a techno track, people would still say it was great.

helenel

"Womanizer" just doesn't seem like a word that her generation would use. It seems like a 50's word. Of course, I'm old, maybe I don't know the words that the hep cats of today are using; it just seems like it has too many syllables for a hit song.
