Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight" Companion, "Midnight Sun," Leaked Online

Edbells

I discovered the "Twilight" series late - well after the release of book four, to be precise - and when a certain Mamapop writer began to schlep her brand of literary heroin to me [cough]Catherine[/cough] I went for it and devoured the entire series in one week. And then I read it again. And just as I was depressed about the series being over, no more new stories being written and resigning myself to the happiness that the movie would bring, I read about "Midnight Sun" on Meyer's website.

"Midnight Sun" is the accompaniment novel to "Twilight." Told in Edward's perspective.
Meyer admitted that the book began as an "out-of-control" character development. I was looking forward to Meyer finishing and selling the project - until someone leaked the unfinished manuscript online (she previously only offered a chapter .pdf on her site) online. Dismayed and angry, she's unsure when she'll start the project back up as the breach sucked the wind from her sails.

Dear Stephanie: I will still buy the book. Please for the love of all things holy publish it.
Love, Dana

Meyer uploaded a .pdf of the entire unfinished draft out of concern for her fans. I reheated leftovers and rushed through my kids' bedtime stories so I could race to my laptop and eat it whole. It may have been an afterthought, but I think "Midnight Sun" is crucial; Meyer is a master of perspective. It adds so much more to the story - more than I initially thought - to have an insider's take on Edward's perspective, to realize just how much he battled. It sounded different in Bella's ears "I'm not good for you" and the like; but to understand just how close Bella comes to death-by-Edward, how often, how quickly and deeply he falls in love with her - just, well, it makes the book more multi-dimensional than before.

I'm upset that she was violated as a writer, that her "baby" was thrust out into the world without her permission, errors and all (and even with typos, the draft is brilliant), begging for criticism just by its very existence. I can imagine the horror, the anger, the reluctance to carry the story on when you feel as though people will be watching over your shoulder as you type.

Still, I hope Meyer resumes the project and finishes it so I can add it to my home library. I hope she understands that nothing can diminish the attraction and value of a good story - not even a leak.

If you haven't already, and I have fifty-hundred times, check out the Twilight trailers:

The Twilight movie folks have also released some stills - I haven't looked at these yet so I don't know how different they are from the shots taken on location and posted around the Web. ENJOY.

Dragged my hubby to see this movie last night...he liked it?!? Which thrilled me. I've been waiting forever to see it. I was NOT disappointed.
I thought that they made Edward and Carlisle look a little to cliche as vampires...they need to tone down the make up just a little. But the rest of the Cullens looked GREAT! I was a little confused that a few parts that they showed as previews weren't even IN the movie? The part where Emet is telling Edward over the hood of his jeep that Bella wasn't one of them....never saw that scene in the movie? The directors added to the movie which I though would really tick me off. But in actuality it added new life to the characters, and I really liked it. I really wish that they had focused a little bit more on Carlisle's story too. But maybe the next movie. The scenes where a little bit rushed through but that's understandable. All in all if you loved the book you should love the movie. Also I have to say that even though Robert Pattison is truly a cutie pie with or with out his face...the character Edward Cullen is the most sexiest man ever created in literature. My daughter teases me for swooning over a seventeen year old....but I was always come back with.. HE IS NOT 17......he's well over a hundred years old, LOL Loved this image. Sorry about the long winded comment, but I've been dying to give my review LOL
Also MS Meyer...please by all means take time out from writting to spend it with your family. But please for the love of God...do not punish us all for some idiot's mistake of leaking Midnight sun. I'm a 37 year old woman, mother of two and I LOVED the Twilight series and The Host. I will simply die if you don't give me more!!!!!

I read the 264 pages of Midnight Sun on Stephanies web site and I can not believe that it was leaked. This book makes the whole series have much more depth. To know the internal battle that Edward deals with every single moment to be with Bella is amazing. It takes his character to a completely different level. If this book were written and published it would be a litterarey blessing to whole world to know the amazing man that Edward was not just the in control vampire. I will be very sad if she does not get her insperation and enthusiasm back so that she may make this story complete. I am also thankful to her for allowing us into the wonderfully vivid world she created in forks and for the characters we all fell in love with. These books touched my heart and inspired my soul.

I have read all 4 books, (multiple times) and Midnight Sun (partial draft) and I am completely in love with Stephanie's writing. You are truly a literary genius! I've always loved to read, but I haven't had a book touch me as deeply as the Twilight series in a LONG time. I want to thank you for creating such an amazing escape and a truly touching story. I am appalled that someone would betray your trust and privacy as an author and a person by leaking Midnight Sun. I know that it is probably something that you'll never get over, but as a true fan (kinda an obsessed one) I am begging you to finish it and publish it. I'll buy it in a heart beat! Hearing the story from Edwards prospective is truly amazing and I honestly think if you did ALL the series from his prespective that they too would be a phenomenon! Midnight Sun allows us as readers the chance to really understand Edward and see his inner turmoil and depth as a character, even more so than we did in Twilight. I don't want to be someone that upsets you by bringing it up, but please, please, please consider finishing the book. With all my love and support, Melissa

Roshni

pleaseee can you finish the book. Ive read all four and the draft of Midnight Sun. It allows the reader to see Edwards perspective.

jess

Please don't stop writting midnight sun. it just makes this saga all the more interesting. every word that i read just made me want to read the rest of the book. to see edwards feelings toward bella and to imagine how he felt and what he went through when bella went to meet james and how everthing else went. in fact i think that you should make an edward version for every book. it gives them an interestign twist to see it from edward's persective. i like it. please don't quit working on something so great just because someone did something idiotic. by the way your books are the best books that i've read so far. i literally wouldn't put any of them down until i finished them. i read all four of them in a week and the partial draft in a day and i couldn't stop wondering about how edward saw himself in the meadow, or how he felt while he kissed bella. you should keep righting. i love your boooks. they're amaizing. actually o be completely truthful they're better than amaizing. i just can't think of any other words that would describe the way that these books are right now. but any way please continue with midnight sun. it's been mind bogglig to see how edward feels and looks at things. i can't wait to read the rest!!!

jennifer

i love the all 4 books and midnight sun i wished she;s do it with the others as well itll be interesting to see what every b ody was thinking at those time
