Angelina Jolie is Not Human
Regardless my opinion of how Brangelina came to be or what I think of their practice of birthing and adopting large amounts of children - the fact remains that Angelina Jolie is one of the most beautiful women on the planet.
Jolie and partner Brad Pitt made their first public appearance, since the birth of the wonder twins two months ago, at the premiere of her new film "Changeling."
Also, she is either wearing five pairs of Spanx at once or Vivienne and Knox were the size of lima beans at birth. Because seriously. Twins. Two months ago. I also have an insanely high metabolism but I cannot fathom having twins and then walking the red carpet two months later looking like a perfect size four.
I do think she looks a bit meatier that previously and I'm glad. Not to sound like my grandpa, but I like curves on a woman. I don't like the super sleek, washboard stomach, hollow-cheek look sported by celebrities like Madonna and Posh. Jolie has a fuller face again and it makes her look younger, plus she has a bit more happening in the chestal region, if you will.
I hope that Jolie's loss of pregnancy weight is due to her genes, not from hours slaving away in the gym. It's great when women like Gwen Stefani and Tori Spelling lose their weight naturally; it's easier on their bodies, healthier overall, and it flies in the face of Hollywood conformity: that all women, even at the expense of their health, have to fit into a size four to be considered sexually acceptable. (After all, we as women should be defining what is sexy and what is not, not the men running the film companies. But I digress.)
If that's not the case and Jolie did push her post-partum body to its limit in order to get back to selling sexy, it perpetuates an unrealistic expectation that other women may try to copy, much to their detriment.

Okay..I've had enough. I read everyday and never comment but for this I will. Angelina while pretty is no where close to curvy. Her body screams for food. and Tori Spelling losing her baby weight naturally? She was only a size 2 to begin with???

Okay, I have to agree with Tawnya. If that is what we consider "curvy," no wonder women in our culture have such a hard time. Sure, she's a little bigger than before, but there are no curves on that woman besides her breasts.

If she were "curvy" her hands and arms wouldn't look like something like something you could buy for Halloween decorations.

I said I liked women who were curvier. Later I also said that Jolie looked a bit "meatier."
I did not say that Jolie was curvy.
Deduce from that what you will.

Well she says that she is breastfeeding and breastfeeding one baby, let alone two, will do wonders for ones metabolism. And really? she didn't seem to gain much while pregnant anyway (other than 200%) baby - so she didn't have all that far to go to get back to her size. I am sure there is some supportive garments there though- nursing burns the calories but does nothing to help tone.

dudes, they are just ridiculously hot. it's awesome, but sickening. (weeps)

ok so I have to say here, that some of us, normal regular old women just a have crazy metabolisms.
Add breast feeding an insatiable infant, and OMFG, I was desperate not to look like I had an eating disorder 2 months after having my son.
Seriously, it didn't matter how much ice cream I ate, or that i wasn't active beyond- you know the nursing and the diaper changing.
Some of us are weirdly skinny, and most of us ( i think Angelina included) would prefer to have less skeletal arms, so the grass is always greener.

Ohkwarimama - I used to be like you. But, uh, kids and pregnancy killed that. The grass is always greener, for reals. PLEASE appreciate your metabolism. Because I totally NEVER thought I would be on the other side, fighting my weight, loathing my body, wondering what in the hell happened. I long for the days when people would tease me about being SO skinny. Sighssss.....

I'm just sayin' she is so completely freakishly beautiful. Flawless. I've got all kinds-a girl crushiness on her! And the two of them together are just almost too much. Have you SEEN Shiloh? Oh dear... the world is just not ready for that! :)

I agreed with you until this point:
"If that's not the case and Jolie did push her post-partum body to its limit in order to get back to selling sexy, it perpetuates an unrealistic expectation that other women may try to copy, much to their detriment."
Seriously, really? Which woman with more than 2 brain cells does not realize that these celebrities make their living from squeezing into size 2 dresses, before or after childbirth? I have a job that requires me to work late and travel. When my second child was 6 weeks old, I had to go back to work, and work late and travel. I did it because it was my job and I wanted to keep my job. The fatigue ran me to the ground, but I did it. AJ has a job acting and that requires looking fab, hence she spends a lot of effort getting back into shape quickly, it's part of her job. I look at her I understand that she has at her disposal possibly multiple nannies, a trainer, a chef, all sorts of other staff that do her chores and clean her house etc. and she concentrates on the kids and on looking good. I think you underestimate the intelligence of mothers by claiming we do not realize her shape is a part of her job. Most of us are not impressionable little teenagers, and we do possess a little analytical ability than that.

I just really don't think that either of them are very appealing. I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't geddit.
Posted by: Sils | October 07, 2008 at 11:41 AM
Sils, I'll join you in that minority. Brad Pitt has never appealed to me, and while I can objectively admire Angelina Jolie for having everything in the right place, in the right proportions, I keep remembering the vial of blood she wore around her neck. Fuhreaky.

i have to say i am SO happy there are two other human beings that don't think either one of them are "all that". i never thought brad pitt was attractive; might have thought angelina was, but she's too 'out there' and just doesn't seem genuine. but we are definitely in the minority, you're right...

"I think you underestimate the intelligence of mothers by claiming we do not realize her shape is a part of her job."
That's a bit of an overstatement as I never claimed such a thing.
Sigh.
Time for pie.

Angelina is a pretty lady, but I don't think she's the hottest thing around. And I'm w/Karen. The vial of blood is just plain old wierd..and when she's 60, those tatoos "ain't gonna look hot". Cool clothes though. And Pitt? Nah.
