Britney Spears' Conservatorship Extended Indefinitely
The court extended Britney's father as conservator forever. Does that mean he can still ground her?
Britney did not object to the move. "I've met several times with [Britney] and she requested that I not object to the permanent conservatorship," her court-appointed lawyer Samuel Ingham said in open court. Commissioner Reva Goetz stated that the permanent conservatorship was "necessary and appropriate." She said she was granting the permanent conservatorship in part because Britney Spears has shown she is "susceptible to undue influence."
In legal terms, forever doesn't necessarily mean forever. She could petition later to have the conservatorship removed as long as her doctors believe she can mange her own affairs. The court's order otherwise constitutes a lifetime arrangement. This removes the necessity of going into court every so often to extend the conservatorship.
A source close to Spears said "this is by no means something that's going to last forever. The conservatorship being made permanent in name is primarily to ensure increased time with her children, and provide support for her music and work goals."

I really hope this works for her and she gets her life back on track, it is sad to see anyone struggle so much and with two little cute boys involved it was just heart breaking...good luck brit and keep it up!

Good for her. I'm happy to see someone who is mentally ill getting the help they need.
And, it's a shame that this whole thing had to be so public, but hopefully this makes people more aware of mental illness and that it can impact anyone and any family.

Oh SILS, SO true. My own family was bashed over the head with the reality of mental illness this past January, right around the time Britney was going through this. I am pulling for her, and appreciating the hard work it has taken her to get to where she is right now, and the hard work left to do. I'm so happy to see her doing well.
