Jury Deliberations Continue in Britney Spears Traffic Case

Britneyspears

Jury deliberation will continue today in Britney's driving without a license case.  The jury deliberated for 2 hours on Friday and then broke for the weekend.  2 hours?  Did she have a license?  What's the hold up?

The prosecution claims that Britney should have had a valid California license since "every significant occurrence of Britney Spears's life has occurred in Los Angeles."  "She is a California resident."  The defense argued her valid Louisiana license should be good enough.

Britney's father Jamie testified Britney had a valid Louisiana license and was therefore not driving without a license.  But California law requires you to get a valid California license within a reasonable time period after moving.  The prosecutor said Britney had intended to make California her residence because she applied for a California license four moths before the accident but had not gotten it.

The defense never produced a Louisiana license, which I would think should have been exhibit 1.  In fact, the prosecutor argued, other than her father's testimony, there was no actual proof that Britney has a Louisiana license.

The defense argued that Britney never intended to make California her home.  "She doesn't want to be here (in California). She's a Louisiana girl. She's only here because of her custody case. She keeps thinking, maybe next month I can go home."  He pointed out that a dozen paparazzi vehicles follow the singer's every move daily. "You got a glimpse of what it's like for her to be here. No doubt that's why she's been driven crazy, why there's a conservatorship, why she was hospitalized," he said. "Do you blame the girl for wanting to go home (to Louisiana)?"

Last month Britney was given the option to pay a $150 fine and close the case but her attorney's refused. Now, no matter what the outcome she will pay 10 times that in attorney's fees

And in more Britney news, she has a new blog, and you can follow her on twitter, which I totally am!
