ZOMG! Twilight Soundtrack Playlist Just Released!
So, I saw this news, and I thought to myself, hmmm... do I continue with my plans to write about Sarah Palin's abuse of the term 'Mom' in the recent vice-presidential debate and/or about recent discussion concerning the question of whether women hate on other women too much... or do I squee all over my keyboard and just give you this news:
THE TWILIGHT SOUNDTRACK PLAYLIST HAS BEEN RELEASED!!!
(Guess which I chose?)
I am so IN-FREAKING-SANELY excited about this that I cannot stand it. CANNOT STAND IT.
(Am so deep into goth-cougar geekdom now that I've given up fighting it.)
(The list, and much music-y/video-y goodness after the jump...)
So here's what all the Twilight Moms here at MamaPop are going to be listening to obsessively for the foreseeable future:
1. Muse — Supermassive Black Hole
2. Paramore — Decode
3. The Black Ghosts — Full Moon
4. Linkin Park — Leave Out All The Rest
5. MuteMath — Spotlight (Twilight Mix)
6. Perry Farrell — Going All The Way (Into The Twilight)
7. Collective Soul — Tremble For My Beloved
8. Paramore — I Caught Myself
9. Blue Foundation — Eyes On Fire
10. Rob Pattinson — Never Think
11. Iron & Wine — Flightless Bird, American Mouth
12. Carter Burwell — Bella’s Lullaby
Note the following: every single one of these songs will be featured in the movie, so, yes, if you do by chance become obsessed with the movie (*cough*) you will want to have this soundtrack on hand to fuel your obsession and make you even more crazy than you already are. Also? ROBERT PATTINSON HAS A TRACK! (*fanning self*)
Paramore's 'Decode' was unveiled as the film's first single on Stephenie Meyer's website a few days ago. The lead singer said of the song's relation to the story: "Twilight is the first series of books I've ever read. I didn't get into the Harry Potter series even though I love the movies. Twilight really caught my attention and held it. I'm really excited to see the book adapted to film and excited that our band gets to be a part of the phenomenon. I chose the title "Decode" because the song is about the building tension, awkwardness, anger and confusion between Bella and Edward. Bella's is the only mind Edward can't read and I feel like that's a big part of the first book and one of the obstacles for them to overcome. It's one added tension that makes the story even better."
Have a listen:
I don't know about you, but I've already got my virtual ass lined up at the Amazon store for this baby, which is going to be on permanent shuffle for, like, FOREVER.
My poor husband.

Is it just me, or does that poster make Edward look like he is about to kill Bella and turn her into another Undead?
I guess it's just me. Creeeepy.

WOOHOO!!
So happy to see new Paramore songs (I have such a thing for the sound of a beautiful female voice singing and she falls into that category for me).
I have about 20 hours in the car to look forward to this weekend and I'm not at all upset because I should be able to finish up the series with that time :) :)

Ok... but will you do the Sarah Palin post later? Because I have been fighting with my conservative friends ALL WEEK about WHY her use of the term "hockey mom" is offensive and why if they EVER call me a hockey mom again I will CLAW THEIR EYES OUT!!!!! And I would love to direct them to your much better-articulated discussion of that topic.

Maybe I'm just cranky today, but damn, that's a shitty picture of Edward. (I still love you, Edwaaaaard, call me!)
Also, I have to say that, while I'm SO excited for the movie to come out, I hope that Bella is less annoying on screen than she is in the books, because damn! Why does Edward love her? She is such a whiner!
Yeah, I'm cranky, alright.
But SQUEE for the soundtrack!! :)

You had me at Muse, but finished me with Iron & Wine.

And also? Just to add more excitement....The new Twilight movie trailer is being released this week! *SQUEE*
If being a 33 year old mom with a horrible Twilight obsession is wrong, I don't ever want to be right!

Interesting! That's not the Muse track I thought we'd see- I was thinking "Starlight" for sure. But I'll take it! Also: Love Paramore.

My sister just informed me that a guy I went to High School with is playing James in the movie. Here is his IMDB page http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1544217/
Too bad he was behind me and I never knew him, my Sis hung out with him though. She said he was a stuck up snob in HS.

Marmite Breath, I agree with you about Bella being annoying in the books. (Jacob is annoying too!) Gah!
Though I do like the poster of Edward -- he looks all dangerous and ready to bite. Yum.
Goth cougars unite!

I actually cringed while reading the book when Edward said the music of the 60s, 70s and 80s was terrible. Because while I was reading the series the soundtrack playing in my head was Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Bauhaus, Bowie... God, I'm old as dirt!
But that's not why I'm commenting right now... look at these pictures:

Seriously, Just LOOOOOK at them. I swear I think my heart stopped once or twice.
