Heroes Season 3: Same as the Second but a Little Bit Louder and a Little Bit Worse

The first season of Heroes was so good. We missed it when it was actually on television so we Neflixed it.

(I maintain that Netflixed is totally a word.)

I could not get the next red envelope fast enough. I was intrigued. The show held my attention and it seemed well thought out and different than other shows.

It seemed fascinating how everything slowly fit together. The characters were likable (except Syler and Niki). It was simple. Save the cheerleader. Save the world.

Then there was last season. Sure, it pretty much sucked, but there were still interesting aspects. The characters were rounding out a little bit. Everyone had two sides. Yes, the acting was considerably worse, yes it was even harder to maintain my suspension of disbelief but I still set my TiVO to record the third season.

Then - the third season.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Season 3 blows goats. What the fuck? You can tell Claire is bad when she has brown hair and wears leather?

Syler is occasionally good, but he was given up for adoption when his mother tried to kill him, but now she is using him to get her way? Niki is dead, but Ali Larter is still around playing a triplet or quad of hers? Sure, she is beautiful but Ali Larter's acting gets worse every single day.

Mohinder Suresh is The Fly? Half the plot points are ripped off from LOST.

And my favorite part - Mr. Petrelli came back to life. That doesn't even make sense. Not that the rest of it does, but DUDE.

I could go on and on, but if you have read this far you know what I mean. It is one huge sack of crap and there is not one person on the show that I want to be friends with.

Listen up Tim Kring. I am done with Heroes. Done. I cannot take another evening of headaches from rolling my eyes for an hour straight.

I gave it up two episodes ago because...what? It just ceased making any sense on any kind of meaningful level. All of a sudden we can all SHARE powers??? WTF?? It just started sucking.

Funny that I happened to read this while watching the most recent episode of Heroes on DVR. I think that pretty much indicates how boring it's become: I'm reading blogs on my laptop while it's playing, and I don't feel like I'm missing anything. YAWN.

palinode

Yarp. I think I signed off when Suresh's voice-over recited Yeats' entire "Second Coming" at the end of the season premiere.

Lori

I not only faithfully watched season 1 but I was practically a missionary for the show, insisting that people HAD to watch. I tried REALLY hard to like season 2 but... it was hard.

Season 3? Meh. I've watched 2 episodes and have PVRd the rest, figuring I'll watch them some day when there are only reruns on or I'm THAT bored.

Where is the interesting plot twists? The characters we love to love?

Alex

I'm still pulling for this show but it's true that it's really starting ck. I hope they start killing people off soon because my brain can't handle any more new characters.

Until then I'll just keep watching in hopes that Suresh (minus the mutations) takes his shirt off again...mmmmmm...

Gray Matter

Just like playing the slot machines, it's so hard to walk away because I'm always thinking the next one will be the one. It'll get good again and then I'll miss it.

I can't watch scenes with Peter Patrelli (Milo whatshisface) because really, MUST you snarl and talk out of your cheek? Also, the fact that he and the cheerleader are dating in real life makes me shudder any time they are on screen together.

i watch it on Hulu when the kids are asleep and i need to get some knitting done, but it's becoming more daytime soap than primetime awesome.

Alison

I agree with every one of you (even the yummy shirt-less Suresh part!). We stopped watching 3 episodes ago. Weren't the viewers promised that things would get better? I wanted to believe! If by "better" they meant more sucky, then they were dead on. I totally miss seeing everyone in their everyday lives, attempting to save the world while still holding down jobs and trying to be somewhat "normal."

Heroes used to be the one show my husband and I watched together. He is so not a TV person and I love, love, love tv. 2 shows in this season he was like this is terrible, I don't want to watch in anymore. Deleted it off the season pass and never thought about it again.
I did hear the producers got fired. Looks like I'm not missing anything.

Lollipop League

I'm like Gray Matter and the slot machine anaolgy. Then I berate myself for wasting my time on Monday night. I tolerated Hiro and Claire last season, but both characters have become too annoying. Suresh was the one character I really liked, but now that he's all creepy and putrid, forget it.

sweetney

funny: jamie is watching this right now, and he just turned to me and said, completely unprompted: "God, this blows."

yeah. over it.

sassystitcher

I quit watching a couple of weeks ago too. I realized that I couldn't explain what was happening to a friend because I had no idea whether we were watching in the present or in the future, who was alive or dead in that time, who was good and/or bad in that time and that I could have cared less. My life is simpler and open for football if needed...and that's the way I like it. Farewell til lost is back ;)

Sally Says

As long as Peter Petrelli is on that show, I will be watching. Because Milo is teh sexx. (BTW, his 'snarling' is due to a birth defect. He has nerve damage on one side of his mouth or something like that.)

Over the last 2 episodes I've honestly come to love this season. I hated season 2, and had serious doubts after the first 3 episodes this season, but now that things are heating up with the Petrelli clan, I'm into it.

ivymae

Well now I feel like a jerk, Sally Says, but they definitely play into it - I didn't notice it at all on Gilmore Girls or American Dreams. He's a snarly character on Heros (and a thirty year old dating a teen. Not hot in my book.)
