Jennifer Garner Gets Restraining Order Against Crazed Fan

Jennifer Garner has obtained a court order protecting herself from Steven Burky, a man she says has been stalking and harassing her since 2002.  The court documents state he has been sending her "packages and letters containing delusional and paranoid thoughts and following me around the country ...his obsessive and harassing behavior has escalated to the point of becoming dangerous and threatening."

A judge issued a temporary restraining order earlier this month and a hearing on the final order is today. 

The court papers say Steven has shown up at her home and claimed "God had sent him a vision of Jennifer being persecuted in some manner that may result in her death."  She wrote she fears for herself, husband Ben Affleck and daughter Violet.  She says "I am currently pregnant and fear for the safety of my second child once born." 

Jennifer's own security guard submitted a signed declaration stating he considered Steven violent and a threat to Jennifer's safety and a crazed fan.  He has followed her all over the country to various public appearances as well.  The LAPD has also been involved in this case and is treating the matter as a serious threat.

Steven is currently under a 5150 psychiatric hold, the same hold Britney Spears was on at one time.

Jennifer Garner has always seemed totally down to earth and someone I would love to be friends with.  You know, with a movie star husband and a movie star job.  But in all seriousness, I cannot even imagine how terrifying this is when you are being threatened and you have a young child in the house.

I'm NOT defending Burkey in any way - he needs to be stabilized on medication, an JG has every right to want him locked away far from her - but my sister in law has been in Burky's shoes, and it's heartbreaking for me to read through his letters. I hope for everyone's sake that he receives the care he needs, and that he has a support system in place to keep him on his meds.
