Jodie Sweetin Splits with Husband

It was not that long ago that we were looking forward to a reality show with Jodie Sweetin and her newlywed husband.  But after only a little over a year of marriage and a 7 month old daughter she has filed for divorce from Cody Herpin.  She once called Cody a "blessing" who helped turn around her life after years of methamphetamine addiction.  Does the curse of the the reality show marriage now extend to couples only in talks to star in reality shows?

I think Jodie may be becoming one of those child stars whose lives become unfortunate tabloid fodder after their show goes off the air.  Which is a shame, because the other children on Full House,  Candace Cameron and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, seem to have managed to skip this side effect of child stardom.

Jodie is seeking joint legal and physical custody of Zoie and is asking that Cody pay legal costs.  She lists the separation date as Tuesday of last week, the day before the papers were filed and cites "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of the split.

"I was dumbfounded," Cody said, adding that Jodie left their home and took their 7-month-old daughter. "Over this past month something has been different. I'm concerned about our daughter and I just want (Zoie) home.  It's rough.  Marriage is not taken lightly to me. It's supposed to be forever."

Jodie's agent, Stella Alex, says Jodie is "absolutely clean" and that the couple have "come to this path in their life and she felt like this is the way she had to go. Jodie says it's unfortunate but it's just what has to happen right now. No more detail, only because she says she doesn't want to be disrespectful to him.  Her focus is the baby.  Jodie's got a huge support system in her family and friends and she thinks this is what's best for her."

I hope that Jodi and Cody (oh how cute, their names rhyme) can do what is in the best interest of little Zoie and can keep their divorce as drama free as possible.  And I also hope she has not relapsed.  Both for her and Zoie's sake.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen didn't avoid becoming tabloid fodder. One of them (I can't remember which) had treatment for "an eating disorder" that was later revealed to be a drug addiction. Then the other one...er, the same one (I really don't know) was going to be questioned by the police because she was the one who Heath Ledger's housekeeper called when he was found unconscious.

Is it wrong that when I read Jodie Sweetin is splitting from her husband, the first thing that came to mind was her character's famous words: "How Rude!"???
