Heather Locklear Pleads to Reckless Driving, DUI Dismissed
What a nice way to start a new year for Heather Locklear. She won't have a DUI hanging over her head anymore. On Friday, she pleaded no contest to reckless driving and in exchange, a DUI charge was dismissed. She was sentenced to three years' informal probation, was fined $700, and must complete a 12-hour DMV road and safety class.
Can you imagine if you are walk into one of those classes 8 am on a Saturday morning, coffee in hand, unshowered, grumbling, and HEATHER LOCKLEAR is in your class? Do celebrities get to take private DMV classes, or do they go with the unwashed masses?
She was not present in court. Her attorney, Blair Berk, entered a plea on her behalf and declined to comment on the case. Only in California have I ever seen a defendant not have to be present to enter a guilty plea. Must be nice.
Tests revealed no alcohol in her system, but she was charged with driving under the influence of prescription drugs. 2008 had not been a banner year for Heather. In March 911 was dispatched to her house for a possible suicide attempt, in June she went to a rehab facility for treatment for anxiety and depression, and this arrest closely followed. Let's hope 2009 is better.
Since she didn't get any jail time this means she is free to work on the new Melrose Place series that is in development. And she may need some money to pay those expensive legal fees. Oh come on Heather. Jennie Garth and Shannon Doherty came back to 90210. Please, oh please?
