Dexter Keeps It In the Family
I like to think that I understand the difference between television and reality.
So why am I so skeeved out that the guys who plays "Dexter" married the woman who plays his sister?
That's right. Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter got married on New Years Eve. I guess they had been
dating for over a year. Shows you how much I know.
First of all, I thought Michael C. Hall was gay in real life. He must be a much better actor than I suspected. Second of all, I even typed their real names and I still feel like it is incest. Third of all, I think I watched too much "Six Feet Under" because I can't help but feeling like Keith is going to be super pissed about this.
Maybe I don't really have a firm grasp on the difference between reality and television after all.

Don't feel bad, I was skeeved when I read that David Tennant (Doctor Who) was seriously dating the actress who plays his (wait for it) daughter. Blech.

Whoa! I knew he was straight, but last I heard, he was married to some other chick. She was in an episode of Six Feet Under, once (she played the sister of a Gulf War survivor who had no limbs and she helped him to die).
That is kinda weird, for sure.

I think it just goes to show what good job as actor/actresses they do that we truly envision them as brother and sister (because yes, it's skeeving me out a bit too). I also love to completely disregard reality when watching tv and movies so that I'm not bothered by the crap that can't be true :)

Personally, it freaks me out MUCH more the other way around. Like Jason and Justine Bateman playing a couple. Or Chyler Leigh and her brother (who actually kissed.) Maybe this is because I have a brother, so that makes it completely ... ugh. This story, for some reason, doesn't affect me at all.

This is gross. Agreed.

Snarky Amber, you are right. He was married to an Amy Spanger (I think that's right) who was in that episode of Six Feet Under. Good memory!

This news is skeevy for sure, but I'm almost more disturbed because Jennifer Carpenter is such a horrific actress. I cannot stand her on Dexter....her union with Michael C Hall? Does not compute.

I don't have a brother, but I don't see why this is a big deal. She PLAYS his sister...she is NOT his sister.

I can see why this is skeevy to people, but to me, it's not like they grew up playing brother and sister. That would be disturbing...

For some reason, reading about them getting married made me feel like I was window peeking, kinda skivvy, yucky grossed out but unable to look away

The only thing this clears up for me is how she is still on this show. She is an absolutely awful actress, really the turd in the Dexter punchbowl. But smart enough to know it pays to sleep with the man in charge, apparently.

WOW! this came as a total shock. i too, rather ASSumptively, thought he was gay. this real-life union certainly brings a whole new dynamic to my Dexter viewing fo-sho.

That's okay. I've been icked out by Chloe Sevigny and Hillary Swank ever since they were in "Boys Don't Cry." I know neither of them is gay (not that I have a problem with that!) but something about the sex scene between them in that movie is just so truly yuck to me.

Well there goes my dreams of a harem with him, my husband and Brad Pitt.
What?
That sounds creepy? HE MARRIED HIS SISTER!!!!!
Ew.

I'd like to get it on with their mother.

I get skeeved out by Milo Ventamiglia (or whoever ya spell it!) and Hayden Panetierre, too - he plays her uncle on the show. (Oh, and she's 18 and he's 29.)

I'd be grossed out if Deb (whatever her real name is) married anyone. I can't even handle her dating as part of the plot. Now, if it turned out she's really transgendered and they married... I'd feel much more comfortable.
