Official Poster for "Where the Wild Things Are"

Wherethewildthingsarebook Spike Jonze's mostly-shrouded-in-secret adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are (that we here at MamaPop have been anticipating for like, EVER) is currently set for an October 16th release, with the first trailer supposedly showing before Monsters vs. Aliens in a couple weeks. The official movie poster is after the jump.

I've seen the small handful of promo stills out there and am digging that it's live action with old-school giant Muppet-like monsters, but...you know...we'll see. This book is a favorite of pretty much everybody in our household, from the thirtysomethings to the threesomething to the toothless-gumming-on-books-something.

Do you think it's ok for our kids age or more for big kids?

And by the way, where have I been, b/c totally the first I have heard about this!

My son read for the part of Max in an open call up here in Seattle some three years ago or more, now. He's just a cool kid, no actor, so he did it for fun and was liked well-enough to be called again. Although he didn't get an audition (proper), we've been dying to hear news of the production since. All we were able to come across was a brief wrap story from Australia, last year. W're really looking forward to this one.

Jason, that PetCobra Guy

Spike Jonze directing + Dave Eggers' screenplay + that lovely, brilliant poster = I'm so donning my wolf suit and standing in line for a midnight showing.

Martha

O.M.G. This is the first I've heard of this.

I CANNOT WAIT.
