Obnoxious Fan Rushes the Stage, Scares Britney Spears
While performing "Womanizer" at her Connecticut concert on Saturday night, a man rushed up, jumped on the stage, and made a beeline right towards Britney Spears.
In the video after the jump you can see that Spears adjusts her sunglasses to look down and is then visibly frightened by the man, shaking even, before her backup dancers descend and drag the guy offstage where he was promptly arrested.
It took her a long minute to recover enough to go through her routine's moves again.
I realize that security becomes a bit more complex with a 360-degree performance area but really? The guy got this far onstage and her backup dancers had to act to keep her safe?
I realize that she has to fulfill contractual obligations and deliver albums and performances but considering all that she's been through these past several years, perhaps the tour production should consider the added expense of beefier security stage-side?
There is something else that is so telling to me about this video: that despite the grueling workouts to get her body back in pop-starlet shape, the theatrical tour production, the intense choreography and all the elements that goes into her tour, in an unscripted moment you see that it's all still just a production. Spears is trying hard and I think it's a testament to her skills as a performer that she's able to pull even an ounce of it off.

This ain't no Morrissey show!
Seriously, though, I felt bad for her - she's visibly startled and shaken. And yeah, where the hell is security? Good thing the backup dancers were on it.

I wonder if those beefy back-up dancers maybe ARE her security!

In a slightly unrelated comment...did she have back up dancers that looked that when she hooked up with K-Fed?? Because...umm seriously....I'd pick otherwise! Damn!
But in a related comment. Yeah, scary and not okay! Poor girl.

Also slightly unrelated comment...It looks like she is yelling something at that guy. Yet we hear nothing except the song. I don't think her mike is even on...
