You Can Find Me in the Picnic...
50 Cent attended last night's benefit picnic for the New York Restoration Project. The NYRP was started by the Divine Miss M herself, Bette Midler, to conserve New York City's existing parks and green spaces and to create new ones.
50 is a co-chair on the committee and the event supposedly featured the Good Humour Man, a game of hopscotch, and a sing-along. AND, I don't how serious they are about this, but Midler and 50 were talking about recording something together. Midler would prefer "songs from the Depression." Heh.
Really, this pairing isn't all that odd. Sure, 50 is from Queens and Midler is from Hawaii, but both got their starts in the "underbellies" of New York. Midler sang to adoring crowds in gay bathhouses and 50 started rapping about his criminal exploits in his friend's basement. Also, Midler's original accompanist was Barry Manilow and 50 was "discovered" by Eminem, both of whom have a devoted following that I can't figure out for the life of me.

LOVE Bette Midler, so 50 Cent - whom I previously had no opinion of - just improved greatly in my eyes.
