Kelly Rutherford Gives Birth: Newborn Already Needs a Lawyer
Nothing like starting the foray into litigation at a young age! Gossip Girl's Kelly Rutherford gave birth to her second child yesterday, a little girl named Helena. This is wonderful news save for the fact that Kelly is already limiting her estranged husband Daniel Giersch's access to the baby right off the bat.
In fact, her soon to be ex-husband only found out the baby was on the way after labour started. Apparently, the news was sent via a text message from Kelly's lawyer which sounds impersonal but based on how this divorce is going, he's lucky he heard anything at all.
In a recent interview Daniel said, "We are currently negotiating how often I am allowed to go to the hospital. The only thing the judge said in court last time is that I can see my daughter three times a week for one hour."
Kelly and Daniel have one other child, a son named Hermes, and in their custody arrangements there is a rule that Kelly is not allowed to be away from their son for more than three hours at a time, otherwise she has to call Daniel in to take over parenting duties. Now Daniel is upset that she left Hermes at home while she gave birth to Helena therefore violating the custody rule.
These two sound like a real piece of work. They've been to court over their son's future preschool plans and potty training so it doesn't surprise me they are already getting stabby over their new daughter. In the case of their son's potty training, the court ended up appointing Hermes an attorney to avoid causing any more damage to the poor kid's mental state over taking a poop (seriously).
Don't people realize they have to work together when they have kids, even if they hate each other? I shudder at the thought that folks treat their kids like possessions to use as pawns in nasty divorces.
Speaking of which, Daniel also claims that Kelly is too stressed to raise children with her acting lifestyle, she spends too much time on herself to raise children, and that she is abusive. He claims she threw a laptop at his head and called him horrible names. I'll refrain from commenting on that allegation considering I've gotten close to doing the same thing at times (never followed through though, as my laptop is simply too precious). Kelly claims that Daniel is wanted by the German government, he might take off with their child, and that while she was breastfeeding Hermes Daniel would make threatening comments like "I can't wait until we don't need you."
How did these two ever hook up? They sound like a marriage union made in hell. I really feel sorry for the kids in this case. Poor Helena is less than 48 hours out of the womb and already in the midst of a messy court case. I think these parents could be in the running to be MamaPop's Douchebag of the Week.

Wait... So, he said "I can't wait until we don't need you" WHILE she was nursing their first child and she still created a SECOND human with him after that? Mind officially boggled.

If you name your kid Hermes, I have no sympathy or respect for you.

Seriously, the fact that they had another child in the midst of this mess makes them both eligible for douchebag of the week in my humble bo-bumble opinion.

Harsh! It is interesting to note that Hermes name is an Olympian God who was the patron of travellers. Perhaps this will do the child good in the future when dealing with all the shuttling he will do between parents.

Is it a baby or an old lady?

Is that bit about the court-appointed attorney for potty-training purposes really true?
