Police Investigating The Death Of Michael Jackson

We knew this one was coming.  The minute I heard about Michael Jackson's death I said to myself, this has police investigation all over it.

The Los Angeles Police spent Saturday night questioning Michael Jackson's personal physician who was at his side at the time of his death.  He was interviewed for 3 hours, and his spokesperson, Miranda Sevcik, said he answered "every and all questions."  She also said he  "helped identify the circumstances around the death of the pop icon and clarified some inconsistencies."

The police and the statement agree that the doctor  "is in no way a suspect and remains a witness to this tragedy."  Per the rep, "Dr. Conrad Murray will continue to cooperate fully with the authorities and asks that all keep the Jackson family in their prayers."  Still, he is not allowed to travel out of L.A.  Seems off for someone who is not a suspect.

According to a nanny formerly employed by Michael, Grace Rwaramba, it was drugs that killed him.  Big shocker there.  "I had to pump his stomach many times. He always mixed so much of it," Grace said, referring to drugs. "There was one period that it was so bad that I didn't let the children see him," she is quoted as saying. "He always ate too little and mixed too much."  She also spoke of attempting to do an intervention, "he didn't want to listen," she says, "that was one of the times he let me go." 

Spiritual teacher and medical doctor Deepak Chopra said that his longtime friend Michael suffered from lupus, an autoimmune disease, and a skin disorder for many years.  I also suffer from Lupus, and it is the next comment I find so offensive.  "There's some recent research that suggests that if children have experienced either physical or verbal, mental, emotional or sexual abuse, then 20, 30 years later they can develop these autoimmune diseases including lupus."

There is actually no credible research that suggests that.  None.  And stating that just furthers the belief that Lupus is not a real disease and I have heard that since the day I got diagnosed.

Michael Jackson was clearly a sick individual.  Medically, spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically.  I have no doubts he abused by a child.  Personally I think he has abused his body so much his heart just gave out.  But those Lupus comments make me angry.

Wow. I have a friend with Lupus and I would imagine she would be floored by that statement too. Yikes.

There are many studies that show that carrying around a lot of anger leads to diseases including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. There are also studies that show that domestic violence can increase asthma levels (via the stress hormones).

Are those diseases not 'real'? Obviously not everyone who has asthma is a domestic violence survivor, and not everyone with lupus developed it after a rough childhood. I agree that MJ died because he was popping pills and abusing his body, but it's an interesting idea, that our emotions affect our health.

dude--what up with the lupus comment? just...why? why did lupus come up in the convo at all? it does completely belittle those suffering with the disease. unacceptable.

It is interesting, but it is also a dangerous road to walk. It can end up making people feel like it's all in their head. That if they were just less stressed, they'd be less sick. That they brought it all on themselves.

I guess I think stress can exacerbate just about any underlying medical condition, but to publicly announce that there is definitive research linking a causal relationship between childhood sexual abuse and autoimmune disorders when none exists is professionally irresposible.

I completely agree. I HAVE lupus, so I get what Jodi was saying, but was just trying to add to the conversation.

Also, thanks for taking the time for respectfully commenting, where as Jodi just emailed and said "It's a really dumb comment." and then described her idyllic childhood to me. I didn't realize this post was about her - I saw MJ in the headline. Mamapop is off my RSS.

I am not sure what the big controversy is about the linkage between your physical health and mental health. A recent study just showed it takes people less time to heal after surgery if they have support and nurturing form friends and family. Whenever I get stressed, my back goes into spasm. That does not make the pain and muscle spasm any less real but there is a huge connection between you mind and body.
If people are unable to see that, it really surprises me. I don’t think your comment was dumb at all Ivory.
As far as Michael’s investigation, I am glad. I am not sure how these celebrities (I am thinking of Anna Nicole Smith and Heath Ledger get so many medications. I can barely get some xanax from my doctor. I think sometimes these doctors may not being doing the best things for these people and it should be looked at to keep things like these deaths from occurring again.
