Runways Cast Confirmed
I've written before that I was looking forward to, nay excited about, Kristen Stewart's turn as Joan Jett int he upcoming Runaways biopic. That was before I had to endure months of watching her immobile face, and the dramatic pauses, forced stutters, and incessant blinking employed as she transcribed Bella Swan's awkwardness from page to screen in "Twilight."
Now that the Runaways cast has been confirmed, I've seen photos of Stewart bobbing and weaving around Los Angeles sporting Jett's trademark black mullet. You know, business in the front. PARTY IN THE BACK. But OMG if the film about one of the bands closest to my heart is ruined by another "Twilight"-caliber performance I'm going to choke on my Sour Patch Kids with rage.
I sincerely hope that Stewart doesn't think that the mullet is going to act for her. Jett has presence . She is more than just a scowl, tight pants, and eyeliner and I hope Stewart gets that because so far, she's been the same sullen prat in every role. I am rooting for her to do well in this, ROOTING.
I was surprised but not really concerning the casting decision of Dakota Fanning as the infamous Cherie Currie, who's now out in the boondocks somewhere creating luscious wood sculptures with a chainsaw. I kid you not. (I love this woman.) Fanning is a talented actress and has already proved that she'll go above and beyond for a role ("Hounddog," anyone?) thus I have every confidence that' she'll be great as Currie on screen; her performance as Jane in, what else! "Twilight!" will be the lead in to this. Currie was a hellraising, drug-abusing father's nightmare when she was just a teenager.
Rounding out the Runaways:
Stella Maeve as Sandy West
Alessandra Torresani as Lita Ford
Unknown on Jackie Fox/Vicki Blue at this time
Floria Sigismondi is set to direct which is stellar.

I find that Stewart has been pretty good in other movies. My guess (or I should say, my hope) is that Catherine Hardwicke's direction produced that unvarying performance in Twilight. Still: fingers crossed. I really want to enjoy a Runaways movie.

Well, I was preparing a comment in my head as I read that post and then Palinode went and said exactly what I thinking...

Ack! Please fix your title.
Also hoping this movie will be good. It'll be interesting to see Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie.

Alessandra Torresani is awesome as Zoe on Caprica, so I imagine she'll be a kick ass Lita Ford.
Although I really don't see Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie. I just don't see it.
That photo sort of sells Stewart as Jett though, cos damn she looks like her at least. Also: I am now considering being Jett for Halloween, cos I look like Stewart, and if she pulls of Jett I should be able to.
