Angelina Jolie Quietly Visits Vets

I'll be honest.  When I first read this headline in my feeds I thought "I didn't even know she had pets."

Sometimes I wonder about me.

ANYWAY.  This story will melt your black heart, it's so touching. 

Angelina Jolie took great pains last month to make an unpublicized trip to the Walter Reed Military Hospital in Washington D.C to visit wounded war veterans.  According to several sources, despite being one of the most famous celebrities on earth, she arrived sans fanfare or an entourage. 

Even better than that, after spending "several hours" with the soldiers Angelina left each of them a gift bag which included a $1,000 Best Buy gift card.

Angelina's USO trip was outed when one of the vet's wives posted her pictures to her blog.  Bloggers.  They ruin everything.  (More pics after the jump.)

I went to the blog, but there was nothing to be found about the Jolie visit. What I did find was a very brave woman and personal views I find hard to understand (her husband stepped on a land mine- lost a leg, is suffering- and still wants to be part of the fight?) Wow. Eye opener. Thanks for the link, it's good for me to try and understand some of the things I can't seem to wrap my head around.

Wow. It's true. She is even amazingly beautiful when she is not all "dolled up" for the paparazzi. And she is genuinely nice. Want to hate her...but can't..

Actually, I even think she looks more beautiful here than she does on the red carpet, usually. I usually don't find her that attractive, but she's absolutely stunning here in virtually no make-up and a black t-shirt.

Also not to detract, but Jon Stewart visits vets on a regular basis. He got a Merit Award in 2008 for visits he has been making since 2004. Not to say that Angelina's quiet visit wasn't nice, just that there are many more out there that we don't even know about.

Angie has been my girl since Hackers. Even when she was doing the crazy brother-love, knife-cutting things. She's just so uninterested in what people think of her, or what the paparazzi are doing. She does her own thing and I find that amazing, considering her level of fame. The charity work just makes her even cooler. She's the one celebrity I wish I could be best friends with.

Agree with Chris. She had me with Gia. Since then, my admiration of her continues to grow rapidly. Such a fascinating, remarkable woman. This woman never takes a bad picture and yes, is even more beautiful natur-al, completely flawless! My favorite actress by far. Love her and everything she does.

Look at her skin, absolutely flawless! She's almost too pretty, like a cartoon character. Why can't she be a self centered brat so I can hate her. I can't, she truly is mesmerizing. I could look at her all day, and i'm a straight woman! Thanks for the pics... no makeup does her justice.
