Michael Jackson's Kids Want to Stay With Janet, and So Do I

Amidst the crazy custody battle for Michael Jackson's kids that's heating up between Jackson's mom Katherine and biological mom/dermatologist's assistant/money-grubber Debbie Rowe, another name is popping up as a favored candidate for caregiver - Michael's little sister Janet.

OK! magazine is reporting that Prince, Paris and Blanket all want to live with their Aunt Janet, and who can blame them? She seems like the most normal of the bunch, and has managed to successfully keep her private life under wraps. Also, who wouldn't give their right arm to have the chance to learn from Janet herself all the dance moves from the Pleasure Principal video? Just me? Okay, but you'll be sorry when I call your lame ass out at the next dance-off.

I remember a friend and I spending hours waiting for this video to come on MTV (way back, before TiVo) so we could try and emulate Janet's moves for our next club outing. We'd put on our cropped denim jackets, our black jeans and gyrate around my apartment living room until the creepy guy downstairs threatened to beat us to a pulp and then toss our lifeless bodies into the river. That only deterred us for awhile, although we did take a break when I fell face-first onto the TV and cracked my tooth trying to do the bit with the chair (see it at around the 2:21 mark. It's awesome.)

I'm a big fan of Janet's and feel she would make an excellent guardian for those kids, and not just because I think Control and Rhythm Nation are two of the best albums in the history of the world, ever. Katherine seems like she's got her hands full trying to keep husband Joe under wraps, and Rowe has said herself she never wanted to be a mother. Those poor kids have a hard road ahead of them - they may has well have a guardian who can keep them out of the public eye and away from the prying media, and who can tear up the dance floor while she's at it.

i had actually come to terms with the fact that i can't be at blogher this year, but if people bust out these moves at the dance off?

can someone please post video? because it would be a tragedy if i didn't get to see that.

p.s. again: who invented the word 'rhythm'? it makes no sense.

i agree. She seems the most normal out of that whole mess and has done a pretty good job overall of keeping her life her own.

Also: I had forgotten how much i looooooooooooooooved Rhythm Nation. I wonder if I could find something to play my old cassette on... hmm.

Debbie Rowe is obviously not the ideal mother, and neither is Katherine Jackson since she's 80 and you know her husband is going to be pimping those kids out, (getting them record contracts, taking them on tour, etc.).

So, yeah, Janet would be a good choice. But aren't there like 9 or 10 Jackson siblings? Don't some of them have normal-ish, non-showbiz lives? Really, give them to any of their aunts or uncles and I think they'd ok. Um, except LaToya.

Oh, and my dad used to try to do the choreography from the "Miss You Much" video. I so wish I had a video of that now.

Forget this chair scene - remember Miss You Much? Janet and her entouage actually performed it on her last (failed) world tour just earlier this year. She's still got it!

Of COURSE Janet is the best choice for the children. Not only is the youngest and the most stable (c'mon, Mama Jackson is 79!), but she's a frickin' bulldog about her family. Those kids will be safer than the Obama girls.
