Neil Patrick Harris Is Going To Host the Emmys
Remember the days when Neil Patrick Harris existed only as an outlet for our mockery? The Doogie Howser days? Those were simpler, better times, when the Coke was New and a mortgage was just a mortgage, not a collateralized debt obligation. But then the world went to hell, and there was no one to make us laugh - except for Neil Patrick Harris, MamaPop's Official Gay Boyfriend.
It's no secret that NPH's great talent is to take boring, corny things and turn them into magic with his touch. TV sitcoms, stoner films, webisodes, the Tonys - all of them crackling to life under the great arcing current that flows from Harris' fingertips like angel's tongues. And now he will bring his holy fire to the Emmy Awards! Which always, always suck! Unless Jon Stewart's hosting.
Think about it - NPH is perfect for the Emmys. He'll bring the exact touch of winking comedy needed to hydrate this hideous dried-up old beast of a show. Plus, let's savour the irony of CBS hiring a man whose funniest and freshest gig was Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog, which will never qualify for an Emmy because it showed up on that internet thingy. But maybe he'll bring out Bad Horse for a musical number.
The Emmy Awards will air September 20th on CBS. They will suck, except for the bits with Neil Patrick Harris.

Has anyone seen his bit as the "Magic Shoe Person" for Sesame Street? It was on this morning. Complete with shoe-lace neck tie, wings, and sparkly-opalescent white suit. And singing. About shoes. Maybe you could catch a video somewhere... It aired this morning, not sure whether it was a repeat...

I'll go digging in all those non-Hulu places.

You can find some of his appearance on Sesame Street on YouTube (is it wrong that I know Sesame Street has a channel on YouTube?).
