Oldest Woman to Give Birth Dies Leaving Two Year Old Twins
Remember a couple of years ago when that woman lied to a fertility clinic and told the doctors that she was 55 and she ended up having twins at 66?
Yeah, her of upstanding morals and no fucking clue what a multiple pregnancy can do to one's body.
Her name was Maria del Carmen Bousada de Lara and she died this week. Now her two year old twins are orphaned.
I always said the first couple months of having twins could kill you but I was kidding.
Sort of.
But in all honesty having more than one baby at a time is a real burden on your body. I cannot imagine trying to go through that at 40, let alone 66.
I don't mean to give a dead woman a hard time, but didn't she realize why she had to lie to get the IVF in the first place?
I'm mostly feeling sorry for those two little boys. I hope they end up with a good family.

My twin girls are two (SOMEONE PLEASE SEND HELP) and I too was upset when I heard this news. I agree with you 100%--there is a reason we don't have babies when we are 66. Those poor kids.

This makes me so, so unbelievably sad for those two little boys.

this whole thing irritates me. completely inappropriate of her, completely unethical for all involved. i saw a quote regarding the what if she dies question --she said, "there are plenty of young people in my family."
what does that even mean? you presume a relative wants them? shouldn't you have set up something when you got pregnant regarding this, seeings how she was too freaking old to have a baby.

Geez. This is a bit of a harsh judgment.
She died of cancer, not from having twins.
I don't think this is as cut and dry as you make it. I also don't think it is going to become a major social problem anytime soon.

And your cancer risk can go up as you get older. We don't know what kind of hormonal treatment she had in order to "rejuvenate" her uterus (as i read in an article). Who's to say the extra hormones she got pumped into her body to make it carry babies didn't trigger the cancer?
Women, menopause is God's way of saying your time to have babies is over. This woman was incredibly selfish. Yes, younger moms can die, but they're less likely to die of age-related illnesses.
