Robert Redford Marries Longtime Partner Sibylle Szaggars
Robert Redford, 71. and his longtime girlfriend, Sibylle Szaggars, 51, were married over the weekend in Hamburg, Germany.
Redford met Szaggars, an internationally recognized abstract painter (you can see her paintings on her personal website), at a Sundance Film Festival event in the 1990s, and Szaggars moved into his home in Utah in 1996.
Pastor Frank Engelbrecht of Hamburg's St. Catherine Church, chosen because of Szaggars' family's ties to his parish, officiated over Redford's second set of nuptials in front of 30 guests at the Louis C. Jacob Hotel on the bank of the Elbe river on Saturday. The ceremony was performed in Szaggars' native German, as Redford is fluent in the language.
He is still so cool.
Redford's first marriage was to Lola Redford Van Wagenen, a consumer activist, with whom he has three surviving children (one died of sudden infant death syndrome): Shauna, James, and Amy. Their marriage began in 1958 and lasted until their divorce 1985, which is a surprising length of time when you look back at the revolving door that is often Hollywood marriage.
I wish Robert and Sibylle congratulations and as many more happy years as they can muster after their first 13 years together.
PS. I say "muster", because Redford's getting a bit long in the tooth, and I'm morbid. Not that age at all matters, really. Who am I to judge when the man, at seventy-freaking-one, can still be so good looking?
PPS. He's so attractive that I don't even really care if he still has his own teeth. He's an older man that I could sink my teeth into (if not for the fact that we are both happily married to different people, live in different countries, have an age difference of 35 years, and have no likelihood of ever meeting).
A person can dream, can't they?

My God, I'd totally forgotten how gorgeous he was as a young man. I used to think that Brad Pitt looked like him, but naw. Robert's definitely hawter... and now at 71 -OH. MY, GAWD he still looks great (funny comment about the teeth :))

Oh, man. How could Mamapop own my heart anymore completely than they already do? Post pictures of Robert Redford.
What happy news. I am a lifelong fan despite being of a completely different generation than Redford. He's always been my teenbeat heart throb. Not just because he's gorgeous, either. I love pretty much everything he does. Living in UT while I go to school it is my secret fantasy to bump into him on the street one day. Therefore I hover near Sundance as often as possible. Way to make my day.

Just classy and gorgeous. He's always been my sister's favorite. I'm forwarding her this page. That last picture....The Abercrombies and Hollisters of the world can only wish they looked half as good....

I had NO IDEA he had been so unbelievably hot when he was young! I mean, I knew he was considered a sex symbol but I always figured that maybe tastes were different then or whatever but OMG (if I may lapse into teen text speak for a moment)... wow.
(ehem...)

I LOVE that he married someone 51 and not 21.... I heart him so much. Had a poster from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid in my room at college (along with the Time cover of his co-star - still hot even though he's dead - Paul Newman) a. long. time. ago.
I wish them much happiness.

I'm glad they got married. Now my husband can stop being paranoid that I'd meet him and run away with him. (like that was ever likely to happen!) He has always been 'the sexy one'.

I met him at the Sundance Film Festival this year, and he was gracious and charming. Hard to believe that someone that gorgeous can actually be a nice guy, but it's true!
