Well That Took Long Enough: Chris Brown Apologizes for His Actions

Chris Brown has finally apologized for the assault on Rihanna in a video message posted on his website.  And it is better than his last video message.

"Since February my attorney has advised me not to speak out even though ever since the incident I wanted to publicly express my deepest regret and accept full responsibility.  I felt it was time [that] you hear directly from me that I am sorry."

In case you are at work, or for some reason can't watch the video right now, he goes on to say, "I cannot go into what happened, and most importantly am not going to sit here and make any excuses. I take great pride in me being able to exercise self control, and what I did was inexcusable. I am very saddened and very ashamed of what I have done. My mother and my spiritual teachers have taught me way better than that.  I have told Rihanna countless times, and I am telling you today, that I am truly sorry and that I wasn't able to handle the situation both differently and better.  I have let a lot of people down, and I realize that," he says. "Nobody is more disappointed in me than I am."

"As many of you know, I grew up in a home where there was domestic violence and I saw firsthand what uncontrolled rage can do," he says. "What I did was unacceptable 100 percent. I can only ask and pray that you forgive me – please."  In conclusion, he says, "I hope that others learn from my mistake. I intend to live my life so that I am truly worthy of the term 'role model.' "

The entire video is a whopping 2 minutes. 

I don't buy it.  I think he just wants his career back.  Show me 6 months in a batterers program and some honest contrition.

I was thinking the same thing. Also - how about donating some of his income to women's shelters, speaking at public events, etc....?

Watched it, and while it's a good start, he's got a long row to hoe to get back in the good graces of the public. At least from my point of view. And no matter what he does, I hope Rhianna stays far away from him. It's just too much to risk.

One of my guilty pleasures is checking in at What Would Tyler Durden Do on Celebuzz... it's all such silly nonsense, but if there's one thing he's deathly serious about, it's Chris Brown. I think it's really commendable, especially considering what his comment section tends to say about his readership.
