Stop Me If You Heard This One Already: Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn are Divorcing

No seriously, they are getting divorced.

I think.

Let me rephrase that:

Robin Wright Penn and Sean Penn have filed for divorce. Again. For the (counting on my fingers) for the third time in the past nine months. Oh wait, four because there was that time back in 2007. *cough* And probably a few other times I'm forgetting.

Seriously though, this time it looks like a sure thing. Why? Because Robin Wright Penn sounds pretty darn sure that she is ending her twenty year relationship with Sean Penn.

Of course obviously that might mean nothing based on their track record. *suddenly the certainty I had about this divorce cracks*

I don't know. It really looked like they were working on their marriage because just this past June Sean Penn cancelled two projects citing the need to spend time with family. But obviously that didn't go so well. Robin filed divorce papers last week in California, with that catch all reason of "irreconcilable differences".

Dating since 1989, Sean and Robin married in 1996 and have two teenage children, a daughter Dylan Frances who is just headed off to college and son Hopper Jack, 16 who they have already agreed to shared custody according to the papers filed last week. Kinda makes me wonder if they just stuck together for the kid's sake.

In a recent interview Robin Wright Penn said she has no plans to reconcile with Sean and despite the break down of their relationship "I have no regrets. I, we, have two amazing children we raised together." I think it really takes a strong person to navigate the media minefields during such rumour laden divorce-not-divorcing events and it's sounding like she is keeping her statements classy. She doesn't use the media to lash out like some divorcing couples (I'm talking about you, Hogan family).

I don't know how she does it but Robin has always remained graceful despite all of Sean's publicly reported (and completely alleged, oh lawyer-types) dalliances in the past. In recent years he has been associated with Lindsay Lohan (ew - shiver just went down my spine at that weird matching), Natalie Portman, and two random drunk girls. Oh crap, need I go on? It sounds like he likes to hang with the young ladies. Dude, you can't have it all.

So let's hope this time the papers stay filed and the only advice I can give Robin, is "Run, Robin, Run".
