The MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional: The Bloggess Edition
Welcome to the MamaPop Pop Culture Confessional, where we receive confession of any and all pop culture pleasures, guilty or otherwise!
Today, we welcome Jenny The Bloggess, who has much awesome to share!
Herewith, Jenny's not-so-guilty pop culture pleasures, in Jenny's own words:
So my friend Katie asked if I would share my Top 5 Guilty and-Not-So-Guilty Pop-Culture pleasures and I said no because I don't have any. Then she said "Please?" and I said "I only read classics and I don't own a computer or a TV" and she said "Then what are you emailing me on?"and I said "SHUT UP KATIE. I AM A FUCKING INTELLECTUAL WHO HAS NO NEED FOR POP-CULTURE."
Then she made me feel guilty by saying something about how her cat died or her car died...I dunno...I was only halfway listening. Then I was all "FINE, I'LL DO IT BUT YOU ARE PAYING ME DOUBLE" and she informed me I wasn't getting paid for this at all. This sucks. But I'm going to do it anyway. In honor of Katie's car. Or cat. Whichever one is dead.
1. Ghost Hunters. Frankly, I watch pretty much all the paranormal/supernatural reality shows. Most Haunted, Destination Truth, Monster Search, Giant River Trouts That Will Murder You In Your Sleep, etc.
2. The entire series of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman. Yes, I'm aware that it's a comic book. Fuck you.
3. Will Ferrell. People either realize that he's a comic genius or they need to punch themselves in the neck for five minutes.
4. Twilight. Not the movie. The book. Okay, *all* the books. Don't judge me.
5. The Soundtrack to Miss Saigon. It's never not good to listen to.
6. Charlie and Lola. I don't really like the plot but I love their little British accents and I buy my kid all the books so I have an excuse to impersonate them.
7. This is kind of therapeutic.
8. www.picturesforsadchildren.com Sometimes I think it's written just for me.
9. Eric from True Blood. Bill is kind of a pussy.
10. Can I say "pussy" here?
11. Rainbows. The other day I saw a double rainbow and almost shit myself with glee. Wait, are rainbows considered part of pop culture? They feel like they should be.
12. I was supposed to stop at 5, right? I suck at directions.
So, lovelies: what guilty pop culture pleasures will you confess this week?
« Stop Me If You Heard This One Already: Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn are Divorcing | Main | Jackson Doc To Be Charged With Manslaughter »

Confession: My husband and I make excuses for our daughter to watch Charlie and Lola just so we can watch it with her. Like, "If you pick up your room you can watch it!" Then we pick most of it up before she can even get started and tell her, "Good job! Let's go sit in front of the TV!"
Her British accent is coming along quite nicely so BOOfreakin'YA.

Will Ferrel. Awesome. That's all I have. Wait. I also love giant river trouts.

Eric > Bill. Also, yes to Charlie & Lola. I love listening to those little British fucks run their mouths. They sound so cute.

Dammit. Just spent far too long at Pictures for Sad Children!

Your #2 is probably my #1. Wait, that sounds really, I mean... ewww.
Anyway, I'd definitely put Sandman in the "Not-So-Guilty" category.
Final thought: you're worried about people judging you for reading comic books when you write for a porn site?

Please tell me someone watched Hoarders on A&E. It's a new trainwreck, y'all.

Lil Wayne and Nick Carter
Together or apart.
My love never will NEVER quit for them.

Dr. Who starting from the old school William Hartnell days and all the way up to David Tennet. I still have a Tom Baker style Tardis key as my keychain. That's geeky.

I have my "Sandman" comics in a special tupperware container. Under the bed. I'm such a loser.

Bill is TOTALLY a pussy, and he's a pussy in the books, too. I'm starting to near speaking blasphemy in these parts because I'm starting to think what Alan Ball is doing on HBO isn't even 1/4 entertaining as the books are themselves.
I also think Fox needs to create a reality series called "Who Wants To Date Eric Northman?" And then watch as every woman and half the men on the planet storms their studio's front doors.
And seriously, Neil Gaiman could write a story on used toilet paper and I would read it.

eric? really? i mean, bill is indeed a pussy, however eric is such a douche! i miss godric, we could have learned so much from him. and he was CUTE. for a 2000 year old vamp like looked like he was 17. but he was 2000 years old, so i shouldn't feel guilty about much i wanted to bang him even tho he looked so young. like harry potter. mmmmm....delicious

My daughter watched so much Charlie and Lola that she pronounced tomato "toe-MAH-toe" for over a year. We live in Indiana.

Ack! Hoarders! Guaranteed to make me want to throw away everything in my house. The woman who ate expired food as long as the packaging wasn't bulging TOO MUCH is haunting me now.

Dating in the Dark. I think it hilarious to watch the people try to find each other in the pitch black, and fun to hate them with the heat of a thousand suns for rejecting someone for their looks. Even if I secretly agree with them.

What? No one else is watching America's Best Dance Crew?
Just me?
Alright.
Total Eric girl here, too.

I love to watch the Kendra show. Also Tori and Dean. While my boyfriend reads The New Yorker cover to cover. Hoping this doesn't influence his upcoming proposal.

Oh...this is too funny! Will Farrell is a comic genius. I, too, shit myself with glee when I see rainbows. I make the whole world stop to look at it with me.
