Avril Lavigne Is Single Again

I don't know if what Avril Lavigne does these days is really all that newsworthy. Truth be told, I don't know if what Avril Lavigne has ever done has really been all that newsworthy, except when she forms well-articulated sentences. I'd call that news. But, it kind of surprised me to hear the news that she recently separated from her Sum 41 lead-singer husband Deryck Whibley because, truly, I thought she already had. Also, for some random, insane, the-Internet-will-now-lose-respect-for-him reason, my husband has a thing for Avril, so this news was actually brought up in our house last night and talked about for longer than I care to admit. ENTIRE MINUTES. Men, do you understand this crush or should I be concerned?

Anyway, the announcement was made through Avril's Web site, as so many celebrity divorces/weddings/babies are announced these days -- who needs a publicist? -- and she said that "I am grateful for our time together, and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining friendship." That's a far cry from what a "source" has said, which is this, "She dumped him and told him she was leaving him. She wants to move on." Yeah, that sounds more like the angry, angsty, bratty pop singer!

The couple married three years ago -- in June of 2006 -- but apparently, according to another source, have been living apart for some time.

And for anyone who may care, it seems she may have an album coming out soon. Something tells me a break-up won't make her angry, whiny music any less angry or whiny, though.

I asked my husband what it was with her and why guys seem to find her hot and his very simple answer was... "because she's a spinner." Guess that just says it all right there. I could be offended or disgusted but it was just too funny the way he answered my question.
