Wanda Sykes' New Stand-Up Special on HBO
Wanda Sykes is easily one of my most favorite people in general and she's definitely one of my favorite comedians of all time.
So I'm positively giddy that she has a new HBO stand-up special coming up: I'ma Be Me.
Sykes is simply hilarious. She specializes in frank observations on life and politics and the skewering of people who behave like jackasses.
I'ma Be Me is rather momentous because it will be Sykes' first special as a fully-out lesbian. In a clip from the show, she reflects on the differences in her experiences as a black woman and a gay black woman: "There's some things that I've had to do as gay that I didn't have to do as black: I didn't have to come out black."
The special won't premiere on HBO until Saturday, October 10 at 10 p.m. To whet your appetite, have a look at Wanda's last special, Sick and Tired:
« Dear Ace of Cakes: Come Out From Behind That Oven | Main | Goodbye, Mary Travers »

oh i love her!!!
most people (i have realized) don't remember she was married to a man and was Wanda Sykes-Brown. i loved her bit about watching her niece and nephew and feeding them ice cream for dinner and staying up playing nintendo. "i don't care, they're not my kids." awesome.
