Jon Gosselin Wants Protection For Children In Reality Shows: Really?
I've discussed before how children in reality shows aren't really protected because child labor laws don't apply. Kate Gosselin's brother and sister in law were on CBS' The Early Show earlier in the week with fame whore, oh I'm sorry, "child welfare advocate" Gloria Allred discussing this issue. Clip is after the jump.
As a parent, I would never expose my children to this kind of 24 hour a day constant recording, even if it meant I could pay for college. And yes, I have a mommyblog, and no, I do not think it is the same thing. My child is not being recorded AT ALL. I pick and choose what I write about it, the tabloids do not follow my every move, and my nasty divorce is not displayed all over the media for the world to see. (Not that I'm going through a nasty divorce, or a divorce at all, but you get my point.)
Mommyblogging and the Gosselins, in my opinion, are not the same thing. I know some people disagree. Children are not inherently damaged by mommyblogging. I am not sure how children cannot be damaged and exploited by this kind of constant attention and yes, WORKING. Filming all the time is work. That is why the parents are paid. The children should be payed too, in some kind of trust, but they are not, because they are not WORKING. See the catch 22 here? Jon and Kate say they put money away for the kids' education but what if they hadn't? And that money may not be in an irrevocable trust, like is required in most entertainment situations.
But what is with Jon's change of heart recently? Kevin and Jodi Kreider were frozen out a year ago and now they are all lovey dovey? And he agrees with them? Coincidence or change of heart? Trying to piss of Kate in the nasty divorce?
