Jon Gosselin's Douchebaggery Stops Production Of Jon & Kate Plus 8

According to the Associated Press, Jon Gosselin today issued a cease-and-desist order to TLC demanding that they stop filming the popular trainwreck of a show.

Wow, what a shocker. This guy is full of surprises, no? phhhbbbtt.

Details are hazy regarding the specfics of the court order, but TLC is halting production of the show "pending further conversations" between the network and the Gosselins. Frankly, I think someone should have a conversation with Jon Gosselin about how to not be a total dickhead. Howabout having THAT conversation, huh TLC? HUH? grumble.

In response to this development, Kate Gosselin issued a statement saying: "It appears that Jon's priority is Jon and his interests... My priority remains our children and their well being." Oooh, BUUUUURRRN.

In her statement, Kate Gosselin went on to say:

I'm saddened and confused by Jon's public media statements. Jon has never expressed any concerns to me about our children being involved in the show and, in fact, is on the record as saying he believes the show benefits our children and was taping on Friday with the kids.... I do the show for my family because I believe it provides us opportunities we wouldn't otherwise have. Jon used to share that belief until as recently as the day the network announced the name change of the show and indicated that Jon would have a lesser role in the show.

On Monday, TLC announced that they would rename the popular series "Kate Plus Eight," and reduce Jon Gosselin's role in the show, though he would remain under contract with TLC. God knows why, but there it is.

So, show of hands, who wants to punch Jon Gosselin in the face? In the groin? C'mon, we're all friends here!

I would like to give him a stern talking to for sure. I know Kate's not blameless in all of this by any means. But I just DON'T GET so much of his behavior in recent months.

I don't think he has a selfless bone in his body, but I would like to see these kids away from the cameras, to give them somewhat of a normal childhood. At least give them time to let them heal a little.

Hell, my 4 year old is suffering and all we did is move for goodness sakes. To have your parents get divorced in the national spotlight and then have your dad go on TV and say he despises your mom, maybe getting away from the cameras isn't a bad thing.

But yeah, he is a douche.

Really? You know why they keep broadcasting this garbage? Because folks like you can't get enough of it. It's in the best interests of TLC and it's parent company to keep this alive anyway they can so people can be enthralled by it. So they can sell more ad space and make more money. Well, I also think Jon is a HUGE douchebag. That said, honestly, this might the best thing that could happen for those kids. Not that's that why he did it, but the end effect could be beneficial.

I'm with Kate. He is acting like a total ass considering he never NEVER had a problem with the show when it was making him famous. The thing is, even though being on camera constantly is probably tough on the kids, I can't imagine trying to raise those kids without the income it provides.

I'm with Amanda. He has been acting like a huge douchebag, wearing an asshat no less, but if this means the kids stop getting filmed for the rest of their lives, it's all good.

I told my husband about this new development, and he said, "Well, whatever his motivations, I'm glad he's stopping production. No kid deserves to grow up in a fishbowl like that."

I also read in another article that his laywer is asserting that TLC did not attain proper legal documents required by Pennsylvania Child Labor Laws, so TLC might have their ass handed to them. Also, they are asserting that TLC has not arranged for the children to be compensated, again, as per the child labor laws.

The whole thing is just a big mess. If it ends, I don't care if it's Jon the King of Douchebags who ends it. I'm really tired of seeing both of them--he of the squinty pout, she of the Muskrat Love hairdo--on the magazines at the checkout.

I wouldn't mind if I thought for one second he was really thinking about his kids - I mean, if their best interests were what he was looking out for maybe he wouldn't spend so much darn time trolling & being photographed acting like a wanna be frat guy and trash talking their mom to the media. No, this latest stunt comes off as a bitter publicity grab, taking a swipe at TLC b/c he's not getting the shows like Kate. Seriously, what's he do that earns enough to support these kids. And the whole, the kids haven't been compensated is super douchy since I assume that he & Kate would share custody of the children's earnings, which he would probably use to "invest" in more Ed Hardy clothing for himself. Truly slimy actions.

It's really hard to avoid the whole Gosselin drama, even if a body has never seen the show. Which blessedly, until last week, I had never laid eyes upon.

Apparently reruns are on TLC and being morbidly curious now, due to the drama, I flipped it on.

What in all freakin' hell is the appeal of this show? She's a shrieking harpy, he's a total passive aggressive douchebag and the kids are completely overwhelmed with the media circus that is their life.

Hopefully, IMHO, the crash that is their life will get their kids out of the spotlight and the Gosselin drama will fade into the shadows.
