Katie Holmes Wins: Suri Starts Catholic School
Since Suri's birth Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise have been at odds over which religion in which to raise their daughter. I don't know if you've heard, but Tom is an enthusiastic Scientologist. Reportedly, Katie, who was raised a devout Catholic, gave Scientology the good 'ol college try, but five months ago decided she just couldn't get on board...their spaceship. Har.
(For some reason, I imagine this going down with Katie tearing off her helmet, ripping electrodes from her nipples and yelling "And another thing, I want a damn Xanax!". I'm probably pretty close.)
Apparently, Katie is now convinced that Suri should be raised with the other Wogs and last week enrolled her in a Catholic preschool in Boston, Massachusetts where Tom is filming his latest movie, Wichita.
According to a source:
"They had been having huge problems agreeing on her school. To say they were having arguments is putting it mildly – but Tom came around to the idea in the end."
I imagine it's pretty easy to win an argument as Tom Cruise's wife. Just threaten to wear heels.
More pics after the jump of Tom, Katie, and Suri this week on set...

Good for Katie.
But why does Suri always look so depressed? Seriously. The child has the same dulled expression in every. single. photo. It can't possibly be that she doesn't enjoy the paparazzi taking pictures of her ALL THE TIME?

LOVE. IT!
Is it just me, or do others also look at the third pic and think that TC is still trying to brainwash Suri, via the apparent chanting in the ear? Sorry...it just doesn't look tender or fatherly...more determined and brainwashy.

I am so glad Katie got off the spaceship...
She gets a load of bad press for letting Suri go out in heels and makeup, etc, etc...but really, my daughter is, like, the same age as her, (I just googled: she is 2 days older than my daughter)...and yesterday, Violet went to run errands with me wearing a fluffy white dress, a red wig, a princess hat, and a pair of pink cinderella shoes. She is obsessed with lip smackers and sometimes, I let her wear my sparkly eye shadow.
As much as I kind of don't want to, (especially since she stole MY Pacey), I kind of like Katie. I kind of wait to take her out to coffee.

@Rachel, I think that part of the problem of Suri's sad little expression is that she's COLD. It's not warm in Boston right now, why does this child never wear a coat? Does Xenu not believe in hypothermia either?

For some reason, she seems so uncomfortable with him. But seems to melt into Katie.
Am betting another year before the big Tom and Katie divorce.

Katie: Who's there?

I want Suri's hair color.
And I'm SO happy Katie is sticking to her Catholic roots & bringing Suri with her. Space ships are over-rated. I hope this influences Tom to back of the alien religion...I hope he doesn't start conversing with Anne Heche in that language she knows.

There is a repetition to the child's photos:
Never playing with other children
Never smiling. Either carrying a sullen or sad expression--not genuine glee.
Knowing she can wear little girl high heels and be taller than Daddy.
I know time passes faster in Hollywood years, but why are they still carrying that child around? Isn't she like 15 or something? Her legs already look longer than Tom's.
I say absolutely send her to The Blessed Sacrament Heart of the Bleeding Holy Mother and let the nuns get their hands on her. Off with the silver sparkly shoes and hello saddle shoes, a uniform, and sit up straight when you eat your potato and peas. L. Ron Hubbard? 20 rosaries on your knees in chapel for that heresy. I see her staying after school a lot when she tells Sister Tiffany Pear that L. Ron took Our Lady for a ride in a spaceship and brought her back "clear."

Yeppers. It's done for these two. Couldn't convert Nicole, now Katie. Seriously, I always thought Katie looked practically embarassed early on when she was photoraphed w/ that scarentology indoctrinator. Suri is a sweet looking child.

Is non-religious school not an option for some reason? Why indoctrinate her into ANY religion?
Yeah, she does look a bit pouty.

Seriously, how good-looking has Connor become?

Sigh. I'm glad for Katie for breaking out of Scientology, but I honestly think when children go to religious schools nobody wins. Go ahead flame me. I can take it I'm already destined for hell.

Funda62, I'm going in a LOVELY handbasket, would you like a ride?
I'm not a fan of organized religion of any kind. But I really want to hug Katie for taking a stance. There's hope now that she hasn't fully morphed into a Stepford robot. She has said so little since she became involved with TC, which to me made it look like she no longer had her own opinion about ANYTHING. Has anyone else noticed that Katie and Tom haven't been photographed together at (if at all?) events lately?
And while I'm having an opinion, can I just say how STABBY I get whenever Tom opens his mouth?! I'm all for people choosing what works best for them with regard to religion. It's guys like Tom who get up on their soapbox and call the rest of us idiots for not making the same choice he did, that really turns my stomach. With the whole Brooke Shields thing a few years ago, he was crowned King Asshat by me.
