Ken Jeong Is The New Asian Seth Rogan

I don't usually write about actors but I guess thugs marks the exception to the rule, because guess what?, that's exactly what I'm doing. I'm pretty much a lone wolf. But in this case I'm a lone wolf against my own rules and that makes me extra Lone Wolfish. The actor? Why... Ken Jeong, of course! And why am I writing about him? Mind your own business.

I hope that blurb was short enough. I'm supposed to keep all my blurbs sufficiently short, and that sounds like a guideline for gastro-intestinal distress but it isn't. I'm pulling back the curtain here, because...and forgive me for repeating myself, your majesty...I'm a Lone wolf. A Lone Wolf who writes with an ensemble of talented writers, most of whom seem more capable than he of staying on subject. But I digress. Whatever that means.

Ken Jeong is in everything you've ever seen for the last couple years, and he is right this moment starring in "Community" which is a comedy on NBC that my daughter finds funny even though that one guy has a really pointy chin and when I bring this up she's all "Yeah. But he as good hair" but she doesn't say it like a valley girl so don't add that inflection. And Ken Jeong was also in Couple's Retreat which sucked so bad that I should make a comparison to another something that sucks like a vacuum or a gay celebrity but I just don't feel like it right now. But Ken Jeong was totally in it. And Role Models. And Pineapple Express. And Knocked Up. And All About Steve. And The Goods. And The Hangover. Jeez. I'm tired just typing the list. Hold on a sec. I just need to lie down.

Okay, I'm back. So he's in everything ever and he's funny in most of the roles he takes and he tries to make the bad roles funny too and in some of the more awful ones, which shall go unnamed but totally starred Vince Vaughn, he even makes a poorly written unfunny character work.And that's like taking a something and [metaphor] Burt Convey. Man. I'm really struggling tonight.

My girlfriend says I should mention that he was a medical doctor with a license and a stethoscope and everything before deciding to become a stand-up comic, and I suppose I see her point and that is part of what makes him so fascinating, but I'd like to point out that he gets totally nude and jumps on another guy's head in the Hangover, and if that is a bigger accomplishment than medical school, I don't know what is.

So congratulations to Ken Jeong for being the best non-descript character actor of the Eastern Hemisphere-persuasion ( and THAT'S how you keep from being racist, yo!) since Long Duck Dong.And unlike him you aren't even propagating any horrible stereotypes about your ethnicity, so "Good game!" as they say in this business of shows. Way to work your ass off to scratch together a meager existence. I don't know that it's meager...it just sounds better that way.

I thought I was the only person who is happy to see him walk on camera in a film. Once you see him you know the film's going to get funny...and in Couple's Retreat it needed the help.
