Jon Gosselin Confesses His Sin In Temple

Um, who is Jewish?  Aren't the Gosselins Christian Evangelists?  Why is Jon consulting with celebrity Rabbi Shmuley Boteachand and confessing his sins at New York City's West Side Jewish Center?  

I'm thinking it is the "celebrity" in the Rabbi's title.  And you had to pay $20 to get in.

Jon said things like:

"I think I'm just misunderstood. I'm not a fame seeker. Everyday I look in the mirror and I wonder [why I'm famous]. I don't sing. I don't dance. I'm not a Nobel Peace Prizewinner. I just had eight kids and I had a show on TLC."

"Half the stuff I've done, if I look at my moral compass, I shouldn't have done," he said. "I know that but I did it anyway. It's like fame canceled out conviction."

"I want to apologize to Kate in private," he said. "I'll apologize to her for openly having relationships in the public eye. That was a huge mistake, because if she would've done that to me, I would have been extremely pissed off. Not because our relationship is over, it's almost like a stab in the back. And now that I think about it, it was a very wrong thing to do. I definitely regret it."

"It's hard for me because I can't forgive myself for the things I've done," he said. "So to ask for forgiveness from someone who may never forgive me is tough for me. I do apologize to Kate. I'm sorry for doing the things I did. I do ask for her forgiveness."

As for Hailey, it looks like they are not exactly taking a break, just slowing things down. 

"We decided not to take a break, just slow things down, until I get through my divorce and I know everything is settled and okay. I don't want another failure in my relationships. I don't want to make the same mistakes I made with Kate, with Hailey. I would just be repeating the pattern over again," he said.  

This whole thing just feels disingenuous to me.  If you want to apologize in private, apologize in private.  Get out of the public eye, stop playing games with your ex-wife, be a parent to your 8 CHILDREN, stop pretending to be Jewish, and GO AWAY.

As a parent, aren't we supposed to be role models for our children?  Why not try that for a change?

I'm pretty sure this Jewish-pretending-confessional is really just a "get-back" stunt for Kate's solo interview special with TLC that aired last night.

Yeah I watched it...but only because when I got home from work last night, my husband had it on TV...Compelling.

a wise someone told me recently that an apology is a gift you give to the other person because they deserve it. an apology should not come with a request for forgiveness, because that is putting the other person in a position to act in a way you are defining. IF they decide to forgive you, that is their gift - unsolicited. Jon's apology is nothing but a request for forgiveness.
