I have to admit it, I'm a sucker for a good Disney/Pixar movie, and I especially love the Toy Story franchise. And the new Toy Story 3 trailer, well, it looks fantastic. Watch it for yourself after the jump.....
Yay! The Oscar nominations were announced today! Whether you think they're the ultimate Hollywood circle jerk or the pinnacle of cinematic achievement, there's no denying that an Oscar nomination means you now have serious credentials in the movie industry. A nod in the Best Picture category makes most of the movie-viewing population regard the film with some degree of reverence.
You know what's fun? Here's a hint: it doesn't involve two solid weeks of wall-to-wall political TV advertising. If you live within the broadcast radius of Massachusetts, that's the reality you've been living with for most of 2010... and it sucks big-time. No matter which side of the fence you sit on - or how you feel about the election itself - there's little doubt you're well-past sick of being exposed so relentlessly to attack ads, other attack ads, slightly different attack ads, attack ads produced and paid for by special interest groups, attack ads produced and paid for by political action committees... like I said: it sucks big-time. In fact, it's enough to make you think back wistfully to times gone by — those halcyon days of 2009 when politics meant potential fun TV/movie viewing, and not actual political hackery. Remember those times? It feels like so long ago... <insert segue-to-montage-sequence wavy lines here>
But then the more I stared at the dress the more I started to like it but I couldn't figure out why.
Then it hit me.
I always thought that people who had a panic room in their house automatically qualified as clinically paranoid. I mean, really, who needs a panic room? If you are at high risk for a home invasion you can get a really nice alarm system or some beefeaters or something. Right?
Kurt Westergaard actually needed and used his panic room on Friday.
I haven't seen The Princess And The Frog. Yet. I want to see it, because I'm dying to know whether it lives up to its hype (first black Disney princess! best Disney princess story yet! JAZZ! NEW ORLEANS! THIS AIN'T YOUR MAMA'S CINDERELLA!) Also, because - ahem - I like Disney movies, princesses or no, and I like taking my kid to movies, yadda yadda.
But there was a vampire movie that I had to go see first, so.
