Stars Shine In Fabulous Las Vegas

Anything can happen in Las Vegas and lots of times it does. There's pop culture events exploding around every corner. It's unlike many small towns in Michigan that exist in a perpetual state of unpopular culture. I saw nary a pop culture icon in Michigan. Well, one time I did see the local weather man at those baby birthing classes. His wife was pretty hot. But the excitement of seeing the weather man (he's on TV!) was overshadowed by Jenna being pregnant and my rigorous attempt to maintain denial in spite of being at the baby birthing class.

But in Vegas I've seen Jay-Z and Beyonce looking at lipstick at The Fashion Show Mall. I saw Shaquille O'Neal on an escalator. And one time Carrot Top, well, who the fuck cares about Carrot Top? But Lindsay Lohan is always wandering around looking for blow. And Kanye West frequently stays at the top of the Palms with his ego.

But Saturday! Saturday, in Venezia Tower's Bouchon, modeled after Bouchons of Lyon and featuring world-renowned chef Thomas Keller, I stumbled right into the midst of 8 world-renowned writers and I still have stars in my eyes.

MamaPopTalk Is Dead. Long Live MamaPop!

I come to you today with a heavy heart to announce the demise of our dear friend, MamaPopTalk.

MamaPopTalk was a fine old skool BBS, brave of heart and strong of stomach. But truth be told, the old girl's become something of a relic over the course of the past year, what with hearty discussion now going on in post comments here, and open threads fading and withering once detached from the solid, old-growth root of the main site. Personally, I blame you kids and your twitter, all of you listening to your digitally remastered mp3s on your cutting-edge iPhones and driving elder forms of online community to extinction with all your new-fangled IMing and "Superpoking." Dangnabbit.

(Which reminds me: the next fucking person who "Superpokes" me is going to get a swift kick to the nuts. I don't care if you don't even HAVE nuts. Listen, I'll knit you some fucking nuts and attach them to whatever junk you DO have, just so I can have the supreme pleasure of "Superpoking" you in them, okay? ARE WE CLEAR?)

Anyway, the upshot is: all good things must come to an end. Hell, even spectacularly sucky things must come to an end. And so, betches and bestards, ladies and germs, The End.
