Flight Of The Conchords, Baby

Flightoftheconchordsrr02 So have you seen that episode in season two of The Flight Of The Conchords, the one with the lost epileptic dog, where Mel, the Conchords' megafan, imagines what the offspring of Bret and Jemaine - should they ever decide to couple up and procreate - would look like? And it's like a tiny little bearded and bespectacled Jebret. Or Bremaine. Or whatever you want to call it, that's not the point. It's just that it's hysterical.

It also has very little to do with the fact that Bret McKenziejust did, in real life, have a baby, but whatever. Lead-ins are lead-ins.

Need a Good Cry? These Dog/Soldier Reunion Videos Will Do the Trick

Loldog-happy-dog-pictures-happy-happy-happy Yesterday was Veteran's Day in the US. Many people took the time to thank the people in their lives that had served and fought in the military. But it might be easy to forget that soldiers who travel to far-off places leave behind not only human loved ones, but beloved pets, as well.

Weezer Snuggies: The Perfect Marriage of Nerdery and Warmth

Weezer_snuggie Before I get into this, I want to remind you that I will not tolerate any Snuggie haters. Snuggies are awesome and if you can't deal with my luxurious, ultra-soft fleece, get out of the kitchen. Or off of my couch. Whatever. I'll cut you and your trapped hands.

10 Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Tattoos, Plus the One On This Shameless Author's Butt

Tattoo_entire_face_small As long as there are people with bad ideas and it is legal to outfit other people with bad ideas with tattoo guns, we will have bad tattoos, and, man, are there some bad tattoos out there. Even Hayden Panettiere's got one. I feel for her, though, because I, too, had a brain fart in my youth, and now I've got my own slightly embarrassing butt tattoo. Here, let me show you it...

I Really Need You Guys to Start Watching Bored to Death

Bored-to-deathA few weeks ago, I invited you to peruse the first episode of HBO's latest comedy Bored to Death. I watched it, as well, and I found it...okay. First episodes are always kind of awkward in their expository nature, so it often takes at least two episodes for me to determine whether or not I like a show.

Also, I realize that I tend to get a little fetishistic about HBO shows (I'm pretty sure I was the only person who like John from Cincinnati and am one of maybe a dozen people who laments the abrupt cancellation of Carnivale), but I'm telling you: Bored to Death is really good and I'm worried that not enough people are watching it.

Awesome Documentaries about Very Specific Things

HelveticaBecause I am a frazzled working mom, I'm often way behind on seeing movies with smaller releases. This obviously applies to documentaries since I'm not in a huge release market and these things tend to fly through theaters anyway.

Thankfully, Netflix (and other such services) exist, so I'm able to catch up on some of the awesome stuff that I miss. Most recently, I rented and adored two documentaries that are about subjects so very micro that they're almost ridiculous: Helvetica (the font) and Donkey Kong.

Levi Johnston's Playgirl Spread: Why Comedy Writing Is Hard

Playgirl Every day, the comedy writer waits, and waits, and waits, for something to happen to get snarky about. Sometimes there's very little to work with, sometimes, there seems to be NOTHING to work with, as if every batshit celeb took the day off, just to spite the writer.  And then there are the times that comedy writing seems to take a life of its own, and the words spring forth like so many crested waves upon the ocean, covering the sand with laughter.

Friends? This is one of those times.

Rick Springfield to Cameo on Californication

CalifornicationThe third season of Showtime's Californication premiered a few weeks ago and, not surprisingly, Hank Moody's antics have already made for many cringe-worthy moments. Karen is working at her dream job in New York, Hank landed himself a teaching gig at a university after pushing the original instructor right the hell off the wagon, Runkle is trying to get back into Marcy's good graces and the agency industry after his pr0n career and pr0n girlfriend failed miserably, and Becca is navigating the extremely choppy waters of adolescence made even more turbulent by her wacky parents.

Friday Combo Platter: It Takes a Willage Edition

Friday_combo_platter It's time once again for the Friday Combo Platter, the weekly feature in which we highlight our favorite LOL-or-WTF-worthy comments and our favorite email thread from the past seven days.

This week's best email thread was actually born out of what was originally our comment of the week. But the ensuing snark was too funny and another comment came along to take its place. So, let's get to it, shall we?

Wanda Sykes' New Stand-Up Special on HBO

Wanda_sykesWanda Sykes is easily one of my most favorite people in general and she's definitely one of my favorite comedians of all time.

So I'm positively giddy that she has a new HBO stand-up special coming up: I'ma Be Me.

First Episode of HBO's Bored to Death Online

Bored_to_deathNow that True Blood and Weeds are over for the year and with Big Love and The United States of Tara still on hiatus, I'm starting to twitch a little at night when it's time to hunker down and watch a few shows. Sure, I still have Entourage and Mad Men for a few more weeks and Californication is returning this Sunday, but I feel like I need a little more cushioning from the boob tube. I was not terribly in love with Hung, so I'm cautiously excited about their latest comedy, Bored to Death.

John Mayer Is Not Celebrating Humptoberfest With Kristin Cavallari

John_MayerWhat is it about John Mayer? He can date famous women the public loves, women who easily fall into the American Sweethearts category like Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston, and rather than elevate his status, we all just wonder why they're dating such a douche.

There is just something slimy verging on creepy verging on serial-killer-esque about the man that robs me of the ability to find him likable, BUT, last night, he kind of won me over a little bit, because humour is one of the inroads to my heart, and he paved his way into it a little with his recent response to the rumour that he has been bumping uglies with The Hills' Kristin Cavallari.

Kristen Wiig is in the News

Aunt-wiig-weekend-update-snl-linda Here now the news...

Seth Meyers is only one man.  And his hairpiece is pathetic.

Enter the Wiig.

Good evening, and what can I tell ya?

Kristen Wiig will be filling the empty co-anchor chair on SNL's Weekend Update. The seat was last sat on by one Amy Poehler who is no longer on SNL.  However, Amy will sit in it again for at least two episodes of NBC's newest Thursday night hit comedy Weekend Update. No relation.

"Designer" Snuggies. Crapping. You. Negative.

Designer_snuggie I don't know exactly how long this gift from heaven has existed, but I didn't hear about it until last night. When the commercial first came on, I thought for sure that I had accidentally ingested LSD. Again.
